Standing bar solo drinking spot in Changwon: cream Sapporo draft at

Bringing you a review of Ganppa Maekju, a Changwon Sangnam-dong bar that's perfect when real life gets overwhelming and you just want to drink alone, or when you need a second-round stop. The original Ganppa Maekju is in Haeundae, and it had been on my bucket list forever. So I honestly can't say how grateful I am that a branch opened up in Sangnam.

The exterior alone is genuinely hip. It radiates energy and style from the outside. Anyone who loves beer probably already knows this place — it's been hot since the Haeundae days, and I really wanted to visit. So thankful it opened in Changwon's Sangnam — a truly legit draft beer spot.

Ganppa Maekju menu and how to order

Only two kinds of beer here: Ebisu and Sapporo. You get to taste real beer. You don't have to order any food to drink here, which makes it perfect for a second or third round. For your first order, you check the menu right when you walk in and pay upfront!

The standing bar vibe

The atmosphere is genuinely great — the hottest bar in Sangnam right now! Being a standing bar makes it feel different, and the vibe is so good it really felt like being in Japan!

Cream-topped Sapporo draft

This is a Sapporo collab store and they're serious about draft beer, so they pour it fresh right in front of you — genuinely amazing to watch. They fill it partway and then top it off with cream. Eating that straight off the top is pure bliss. Beer of a lifetime!

The beer was so smooth and creamy it was shockingly delicious — I finished a whole glass right away! The smooth, clean finish was a work of art. This is the kind of beer that makes you realize every draft you'd had before wasn't real draft beer. The glass is thinner than a regular beer glass too, so even the taste of the glass itself was different. I'd read that glass shape matters a lot for the taste, and it's true — the thinner the glass, the better the beer tasted!

There's fun to be had just looking around at the little decor pieces while drinking, and lots of people around were also there for a solo drink, so the whole atmosphere was relaxed and fun — I was so satisfied.

Rock-paper-scissors prize game

They were running an event, and I drew the losing spot at first, which was a bit of a bummer, but they said the prize doubles every time you win a round of rock-paper-scissors, so I immediately said yes! Ended up walking away with ₩8,000! Such a small thing, but as a customer it was genuinely fun and entertaining! Watching the person next to me play was funny too!

Butter grilled octopus and an extra round of Ebisu

You can watch the food being made in real time, and they even do a little fire show while cooking with real energy! We'd already filled up at round one, so for round two we just ordered one butter grilled octopus, and honestly it was such a great price and so delicious. Food prices here are generally very reasonable overall.

I was so blown away by how good the Sapporo draft was that once the food arrived, I immediately ordered an Ebisu draft too! Ebisu didn't disappoint either — genuinely delicious. You get purely the fresh taste of the beer, nothing extra. Truly a beer with zero unnecessary flavors — just pure beer taste!

Great atmosphere, really tasty draft beer, great food, and Ganppa Maekju's own energy is so good — this is a Sangnam bar I want to come back to for round two.
