Jeonpo BBQ à la carte pork cheek & cold noodles: Dwitdon Sanghoe
In short
Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch is a pork BBQ restaurant specializing in dwitgogi rare cuts that has been running for over 10 years in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin, Busan. On this visit, instead of a set, the order was dondusamgyeop, ppolsal (pork cheek) and duhangjeongsal picked individually, finished with added naengmyeon (cold noodles) and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). Alternating between the fattier cuts and the leaner ppolsal kept every bite interesting, making Dwitdon Sanghoe a place worth remembering whenever you want pork BBQ in Jeonpo.

Now that Ipchu (the first day of autumn on the lunar calendar) has come, the weather already feels a notch cooler, which I love. Still hot during the day, but the evenings feel a little more bearable! Days like this are perfect for going out for a good meat dinner. I headed to Dwitdon Sanghoe in Jeonpo.

What's the vibe like inside?
I found Dwitdon Sanghoe while looking for a great Jeonpo BBQ spot, and it's been running as a rare-cut pork specialist in Jeonpo-dong for over 10 years. The dining room is spacious and clean, which looked ideal for group visits, and the folding-door layout gave it a nice open feel. The lighting is fairly bright and the ventilation is solid too, so it didn't have that stuffy, smoky feeling BBQ places sometimes have.

I heard Dwitdon Sanghoe buys fresh vegetables and ingredients directly from Bujeon Market every morning, and only trims the meat as needed. They also keep careful track of shelf life for ingredients, so this seems like a place that really cares about freshness.

Ordering dondusamgyeop, ppolsal and duhangjeongsal à la carte
Above all, this place specializes in rare pork cuts, selling over 14 different parts. It's fun picking cuts you don't normally get to try! For those less familiar with rare-cut pork, they also have familiar options like samgyeopsal (pork belly), daepae samgyeopsal (thin-sliced pork belly) and black pork salt-grilled. Last time I had the set menu, but this time I wanted to try different cuts, so I ordered dondusamgyeop, ppolsal and duhangjeongsal.

The side dishes came with bibim noodles, pajeori and various sauces, and the meat itself arrived pretty quickly after ordering. They started by putting the fattier duhangjeongsal and samgyeopsal on the grill first.

Duhangjeongsal (pork neck)
I heard fattier cuts are all the trend these days, haha! As the duhangjeongsal grilled to a golden brown, that savory aroma really came through.

Cooking the outside slightly crispy made it chewy yet juicy inside, and the more I chewed, the more savory it got — I kept reaching for more. Even though it's a fatty cut, it wasn't just greasy; the flavor was rich and delicious.

Samgyeopsal (pork belly)
The samgyeopsal was great too! Pork belly is basically impossible to mess up — the golden-browned fat is savory and the lean meat stays juicy, a solid combo from the start. Eating it with pajeori added a tangy kick that cut through the richness.

Ppolsal (pork cheek)
And then the one I'd been looking forward to — ppolsal! It's not very fatty, so it's on the leaner side, but the more you chew, the more savory and chewy it gets. After the fattier duhangjeongsal and samgyeopsal, eating ppolsal felt like resetting my palate, which made switching between cuts fun.

Eating it with the bibim noodles side dish was a perfect combo!! As expected of a great Jeonpo BBQ spot, being able to pick and choose from so many rare cuts was really nice.

Adding naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae
Can't stop at just meat, haha. We added naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae too! The naengmyeon was nice and tangy-sour, and the noodles were chewy! After eating meat, a cool bite of naengmyeon cleaned up my palate and honestly made me feel like I could keep eating more meat.

Adding a warm bowl of doenjang jjigae made me crave rice on top of it all. The stew was packed with daepae samgyeopsal and it was delicious!! In the end, we thoroughly worked through meat, naengmyeon and doenjang jjigae and walked out stuffed, haha.
There's fun in picking through the variety of rare cuts, plus familiar options like samgyeopsal, so it's a good place to order according to your taste. If you're craving meat in Jeonpo, Dwitdon Sanghoe is well worth a visit as a great Jeonpo BBQ spot :)
