Sillim bar with crocodile teeth game and 50% ABV Yahwa, Seoul

While looking for a place to have a drink and chat with a friend, I went to Yahwa Sillim, a bar in Sillim, Seoul.

I usually prefer spots where you can sit and talk while enjoying a few extra things rather than just drinking, and this place had mini games ready to go, so it was great to visit with a friend.

I went with a friend, but looking at the vibe of the place, I felt like you could visit alone and still have a natural, comfortable time. Some solo-drinking spots make you feel self-conscious sitting by yourself, but Yahwa Sillim had an atmosphere where drinking alone wouldn't feel awkward at all.

Free hutgae sticks and honey at Yahwa Sillim

As soon as we sat down at Yahwa Sillim, the staff brought out hutgae sticks and honey. It was a small but nice touch to have these ready before drinking, and it was convenient to snack on them whenever needed.

Yahwa: 50% ABV but surprisingly sweet

That day we ordered Yahwa and Yeotjam. Yahwa is about 50 proof, which is pretty high, so I was a bit surprised at first. But once I actually tried it, the sweetness was much stronger than I expected.

Since the proof is high, you can't say the alcohol taste is completely gone, but it wasn't as heavy as I'd imagined. The sweetness came through alongside it, so it was delicious, and given the strength, it was good for sipping slowly.

Kkotjam, the lemony drink at Yahwa Sillim

Yeotjam also has a sweet taste, but here it comes with a refreshing hint of lemon added in, which I liked. If Yahwa leans a bit more toward strong sweetness, Yeotjam felt sweet yet crisp thanks to the lemon.

Both drinks are on the stronger side, but they were more enjoyable than I expected without being overwhelming. Since the two had slightly different flavors, it was fun to order both and alternate between them.

Crocodile teeth game and balance game at the table

Yahwa Sillim also has mini games like crocodile teeth pressing and a balance game. Playing them in between chatting with my friend over drinks turned out to be more fun than I expected.

The balance game especially led to natural conversation as we talked about which answer each of us picked. Instead of just continuously drinking, having these simple games kept things from feeling dull, and it was nice to have something to enjoy together when visiting with a friend.

Is Yahwa Sillim comfortable for drinking alone?

The interior and lighting were quite stylish too. It wasn't too bright or too dark, which made it comfortable to sit and talk with a friend. When we visited, the place had a somewhat lively atmosphere, but not to the point of making conversation uncomfortable.

Personally, I felt this atmosphere would make it fine to come alone as well. It didn't feel like anyone would particularly notice you spending time drinking solo, and it seemed like a space where someone drinking alone could naturally blend in.

Photo zone and self-serve drinking water

There's a photo zone set up in one corner, so my friend and I took some pictures together. It was nice to have a dedicated photo zone at a bar to leave with a few photos from the visit. It matched the store's atmosphere well, making it fun to take pictures.

There was also a clean drinking-water station, so it was easy to use whenever needed. This kind of detail might seem minor, but having it neatly set up really does make things more convenient.

Is this Sillim bar worth a second visit?

Overall it was a great place to have a drink and chat with a friend. Yahwa was about 50 proof, which is fairly strong, but it was delicious thanks to the sweetness, and Yeotjam had its own charm with a sweet taste plus a refreshing hint of lemon. Both had some strength to them but were enjoyable without feeling heavy.

With the mini games, my friend and I had something to enjoy together in between drinks, and the stylish interior and lighting made it comfortable to sit and talk. Convenient touches like the photo zone and the neatly kept water station were also well in place.

We visited with a friend, but I felt like coming alone would also let you enjoy a drink naturally and comfortably. Whether you're looking for a place to drink with a friend in Sillim or want to spend some time having a light drink on your own, this felt like a solo drinking bar in Sillim worth visiting without much hesitation.
