Why I picked Ongfleur for Itaewon brunch

Ongfleur is a brunch spot on Hoenamu-ro 44-gil near Itaewon Station. I found it while looking for somewhere relaxed to have brunch on a day I had errands around Itaewon. The menu looked good and the vibe seemed nice in photos, so I went — and the short version is, I was 20000% satisfied!

It had been a while since I'd gone out for brunch. You know those days when you just randomly crave brunch? Right?!?!

What's the vibe like at Ongfleur, and how's the window seat?

Ongfleur has a calm, relaxed atmosphere overall, and that was the first thing I noticed walking in. Just sitting there made me feel at ease for no particular reason.

What I especially liked was that sitting at the window seat let me watch the scenery outside while eating brunch. With a cup of coffee beside me, chatting about this and that while eating slowly, time seemed to move slower than usual.

These days, taste matters, but I think I've started seeking out places where I can enjoy the atmosphere just as much.

What did we order at Ongfleur?

At Ongfleur we ordered four things: brioche French toast, smoked salmon eggs Benedict, a caffè latte, and orange juice. Looking at the menu, there were more things I wanted to eat than I expected, so I agonized over it for a while.

One dish alone felt like it wouldn't be enough, and I wanted to try a bit of everything, so in the end I went mostly with the signature menu items!

When you come out for brunch, there's real fun in ordering a bunch of things and sharing haha. And then the dishes started arriving one by one...

Oh? Straight A's on visuals first!! Every dish at Ongfleur came out beautifully plated, so as soon as the food arrived I found myself reaching for my camera first.

It would've been a shame not to take a photo of food like this. A few shots later, we finally started tasting things one by one!

How was the smoked salmon eggs Benedict? This one's my style!

Ongfleur's smoked salmon eggs Benedict was my favorite of the dishes we had that day. It was also the first thing I tasted.

The soft egg and smoked salmon together were clean-tasting yet subtly rich in flavor.

The smoked salmon's characteristic saltiness kept the whole thing from tasting too plain, and more than eating one ingredient alone, the flavors seemed to come together better when eaten together — I kept reaching back for more, bite after bite.

Craving something sweet? Try the brioche French toast

Ongfleur's brioche French toast had a soft, moist texture with a mild sweetness. Whenever I go out for brunch, I can never resist French toast haha.

It looked pretty appetizing, so I dug in with high hopes — and yes, soft, moist texture with a mild sweetness, just as I'd hoped.

Rather than an overly intense sweetness, it's the kind of flavor you can happily eat when you're craving something sweet. Especially good paired with the latte!!

Plus the caffè latte and orange juice

For drinks at Ongfleur we ordered a caffè latte and orange juice. The latte was smooth and easy to drink, and it paired nicely with the brunch dishes.

Mornings really do need caffeine!! It wakes you right up. And the orange juice had that refreshing tang, like getting a vitamin boost between bites?!

With the drinks lined up alongside everything else, it really felt like a proper brunch outing!!

Would I recommend Ongfleur for a relaxed brunch day?

What stuck with me most about Ongfleur wasn't just the food, but the atmosphere that let us spend time so leisurely. Watching the scenery outside, eating slowly, sipping lattes in between, sharing dishes one by one with a friend — time just flowed by at an easy pace.

Normally I'm rushing to think about my next plan right after eating, but that day I found myself wanting to sit a little longer for no particular reason.

The food was all beautifully plated too, great for photos, and of everything I tried, the smoked salmon eggs Benedict was my favorite.

So next time I'm craving brunch around Itaewon, I'm planning to come back to Ongfleur :) Next time I'll have to pick something I didn't get to try this time. A properly relaxed brunch time after a long while!
