Seochon wine bar dinner with gambas and Sauvignon Blanc: Wine Stein

In short

Wine Stein Seochon is a café and wine bar in Seochon, Jongno, Seoul. On a weekday evening, friends had Totara Sauvignon Blanc, gambas, and cold pasta, then added noodles to the leftover oil. Verdict: a friendly, good-value pick for groups.

I headed to Seochon for a get-together with friends after ages, and I found such a lovely wine bar with a great atmosphere, floor-to-ceiling window views, and reasonable prices that I had to introduce it to you. The owner was so kind too... It was a wine bar that made my heart feel all warm. Just perfect for a girls' get-together...

The wine prices were so affordable, which I loved. They start in the ₩40,000 range, and there were so many wines too. I’ll write more about them below!

  • Separate indoor restrooms for men and women (very clean)
  • No corkage
  • No parking
  • Private hire and group bookings available

How to get to Wine Stein Seochon from Gyeongbokgung Station

Wine Stein Seochon is within a five-minute walk from Exit 1 of Gyeongbokgung Station. Even if you cut across the restaurant alley, you get there in no time. Think of it as being near Seochon’s café street. Going to a café first and then Wine Stein Seochon would be a nice little course too.

Wine Stein Seochon building information

Wine Stein Seochon is on the third floor. The signs were clear even on the way up the stairs, which was nice.

We had made a reservation, and they had prepared a table by the floor-to-ceiling windows with a full view of the Seochon streets for us, which was wonderful. There was also a separate place to store bags. We visited on a weekday evening, so it was not too crowded, which made it even better.

Choosing Totara Sauvignon Blanc at a Seochon wine bar

Wine Stein Seochon wine menu

The wine menu was organized by red, sweet, sparkling, and white wines, and there was also a separate area where you could choose wines beyond those listed on the menu. I truly, truly recommend it to wine lovers..!! As you can see, the prices are seriously reasonable. Bottle wine at these prices at a Seochon café wine bar...? Honestly, it was my first time seeing this.... 🫢

I wanted a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, so I ordered the Totara (4.9) that the owner recommended. This was insanely delicious—recommended 🤍

We went after 5 PM, so we chose from this menu. We ordered the cold pasta and gambas, and I highly recommend both! After the gambas, we added spaghetti noodles to the oil. It turned into ridiculously delicious oil pasta... 🤤

Studying the menu very seriously.. There were just so many delicious-looking options. There were lots of dishes that everyone could choose according to their own tastes, so I recommend it as a Jongno spot for a work dinner too!

The interior with window seats and a wine shop

One side had a little gift shop and wine shop, plus an open kitchen and bar seats like these. The tables were also spaced out rather than crammed together, which I liked even more.

For a company dinner, I think it would be great to book the whole place and push the tables together! There are lots of places in Seochon that are difficult for groups to visit, so I thought I should come here for my next group dinner too..!!

A wine shop with names, prices, and tasting notes

There were even more wines available beyond the ones listed on the menu〰️!

I loved that each wine had its name, price, and characteristics written out like this. Whenever I go to a wine shop, I have to ask the owner and search everything up, which is such a hassle—but no need for that here! I also loved that all the prices were listed..🤍

Wine-pairing snacks
Wine shop gifts and snacks

They were also selling snacks that pair well with wine. You cannot bring in outside food, but I think you can buy these here and eat them at your table. Even my beloved Bichobi biscuits!

So many cute little things too... I had a look around with my friends before we left. There were cute bottle caps that I wanted to snag.

Oil pasta made by adding noodles to gambas oil

Ordered wine being chilled

Before our food came out, they chilled and prepared the wine first.

The glasses were neatly set out in proper wine glasses too.

Totara Sauvignon Blanc

Our Totara…🍷 This Sauvignon Blanc was delicious. I recommend it. The photos came out so well too, which I loved. These were taken at around 8 PM on a weekday.

The first dish that came out was the gambas! The shrimp were plump, and the garlic was cooked just right. It came with baguette, and dipping it deep into the oil, crushing the garlic, and taking a huge bite was crazy good... The tableware at Wine Stein Seochon was so cute too.

The second dish was cold pasta. This was fresh too, with lots of mozzarella, so I highly recommend it as a wine snack! It had a basil pesto base and was packed with vegetables and fruit, and we enjoyed it so much.

Added noodles for gambas oil pasta

Add spaghetti noodles to the oil left after the gambas, and it transforms into oil pasta like this〰️!! This was seriously delicious. My friend suddenly started inhaling it.. haha, I was proud.

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great-value wine bar with a lovely atmosphere in Seochon. 🍷 Group work dinners are possible too!
