This place is famous as one of Seoul's three great spicy tteokbokki spots, so I went in with high expectations... though honestly I can't handle spicy food, so I was just going to order it mild anyway, but hey, it's a famous place so I had to check it out haha! Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch sits in the food court on basement level L3 of IFC Mall, connected directly to Yeouido Station, so accessibility is really excellent. Being able to visit comfortably no matter the weather is a big plus.

Living up to the 'Premium' name, it doesn't feel like a typical snack restaurant at all — the modern, clean interior really stands out. The seating is spaced out generously and kept spotless, making it a great spot for Yeouido office workers' lunches, weekend dates, or a quick bite in the middle of shopping.

What comes in the Hyeonseonine Set, and how mild is mild?

What we ordered at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch was the signature Hyeonseonine Set. It comes with tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) + fried snacks + sundae (Korean blood sausage) + gimbap (seaweed rice roll), and you can choose the spice level: spicy / medium / mild.

The classic 'tteok-twi-sun' combo essential to Korean snack food, plus savory mini gimbap — a perfect lineup. I visited a bit late in the evening and they were out of gimbap, so I got a rice ball instead!! You can adjust the tteokbokki spice to your taste, and since we can't handle spicy food, we just went with mild haha.

The Hyeonseonine Set, neatly laid out on the table after ordering, was mouthwatering from the visuals alone.

It's a wheat-flour tteokbokki style with plenty of broth.

The rice cakes soaked up the seasoning perfectly, and the chewy texture is a work of art. Choosing mild spice gave a pleasantly tingly kick along with an explosive savory flavor that just clings to your mouth.

Not heavy or cloying at all, the clean seasoned broth was impressive!!! Broth-style tteokbokki really is the best, T_T.

The fried snacks: kimmari, squid, sweet potato and vegetable

Kimmari (glass noodle roll), squid, sweet potato, vegetable — all freshly fried with the crispiness still alive. The batter is savory and clean, likely thanks to fresh oil. Dipping the crispy fried snacks into the tteokbokki broth is a combo that makes you smile without even trying.

Chapsundae (glutinous sundae) and the rice ball swap

The chapsundae has zero funky smell, chewy and soft. It's clean and tasty even dipped in salt, and dunking it into the broth blends spiciness with savoriness so you never get tired of it.

A rice ball with a wafting sesame oil aroma~~ Packed full inside, the happiness of carbs weighing down the spice when eaten with the tteokbokki broth... whenever your mouth starts burning in between bites, a cool sip of soda completes the perfect balance.

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch in Yeouido was a satisfying spot to enjoy high-quality Korean snack food in a spacious, comfortable setting. The portions were really generous for two, and everything from the tteokbokki to the sundae, fried snacks, and rice ball was delicious... Korean snack food really is the best 😭😭
