So after a storm of searching, I found this place near Anguk Station — Bukchon Jeongsajin (북촌 정사진). Here's my genuinely satisfied review of the shoot!

The first thing that stands out is how convenient the location is. Coming out of Anguk Station Exit 3, you walk about 200m down the alley between the Hyundai E&C buildings, and you'll spot a pink sign saying 'the photo studio is on the 2nd floor.' That's the building — second floor.

Hours vary a bit by day, so definitely check before you go! (Without a reservation the studio might close a little early, so it's best to book via Naver or call ahead.) I went on a weekday afternoon and had a relaxed, unhurried shoot.

Inside the studio: small, cozy and film-themed

When I opened the door at Bukchon Jeongsajin, it wasn't the stiff, formal studio atmosphere I expected at all. Cute little props, film cameras, and photos covering the walls made it feel like a tiny gallery. I especially loved the vanity table with a lit mirror — perfect for touching yourself up before the shoot.

The moment I met the owner, I knew I'd made the right choice.

Super kind and clearly professional. Standing in front of a camera usually makes my expression stiffen up with nerves, but the owner set such a comfortable mood that I relaxed almost immediately.

What I loved most: at other places it's a few shutter clicks and done, but at Bukchon Jeongsajin they shoot again and again, really carefully, until you're happy. The owner watched every expression and every angle closely, working hard for the best possible shot — it honestly touched me. Thanks to that, I felt good and relaxed through the whole shoot.

The retouching: a natural passport photo that still looks like you

The most important step after the shoot — retouching! The owner told me this is the kind of ID photo they aim for.

The result made me really happy. My actual features were kept intact, but the skin tone and lines were retouched so naturally. Anyone could tell it was me, just a prettier version! It's rare to find a place that retouches this naturally while still meeting passport photo regulations.
