An indoor course for a rainy day in Jeju — Nohyeong Supermarket. Indoor media art packed with things to do.
I'm Pororo, always up for a good time haha. When planning a Jeju itinerary, you always end up wondering about one indoor spot for rainy days, right?
This time I visited Nohyeong Supermarket near Jeju Airport, and since it's indoor media art, I got to enjoy it fully without worrying about weather. I organized this post by location/price → what kind of place it is → highlights → tips.
Where is Nohyeong Supermarket and how much are tickets?
Nohyeong Supermarket is located in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City. It's only 15 minutes by car from Jeju Airport, so it's perfect as your first stop right after picking up a rental car, or your last stop right before returning it.
It's also a great location for filling in awkward gaps of time on your first or last day of the trip.
Admission is ₩15,000 for adults, ₩13,000 for teens, ₩10,000 for children. There's also a media experience café ticket that includes a drink for ₩20,000 for adults — if you're going to drink something anyway, this one's better value.
And get this — through the discount link, it's ₩17,000 with the drink included!
It's open from 9am to 7pm, with last entry at 6pm, so keep that in mind and don't go too late.
The black-and-white entrance where color disappears
Nohyeong Supermarket has a unique concept. The premise is that all the color in the world has been sucked through a mysterious door.
So right from the entrance, there's literally no color at all. The ticket booth, the café menu board, the tables, the chairs — all of it is black and white, can you believe it?
Stepping into this colorless space felt strange, like being pulled back into the 1900s somehow.
While you're looking around and taking photos in this black-and-white space, suddenly the lights go out with a color-sucking effect, and a door opens. This was genuinely surprising!
Once the door opens, that's when the media art space bursts into vivid light and color.
What to see and how long it takes: 1.5–2 hours from the first-floor center seat
There's a lot packed inside Nohyeong Supermarket. Seeing everything from start to finish took about 1.5 to 2 hours.
There's a space lined with glowing strings, a room made colorful with mirrors and disco balls, and even a room fully covered in media art on every side.
Right beside it, old-school backpacks like the ones we used to carry in elementary school hang on the wall, and you can wear one for photos.
The largest space plays a 20–30 minute large-scale media art show, and this is the highlight. It's split across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors, so you can sit wherever you like — I watched from the center of the 1st floor, and it felt like I was being pulled right into the media art, which made it much more immersive. If you're picking a seat, I'd recommend the 1st floor center.
It's not just something you watch — there are lots of interactive elements too. Touch the screen and auroras appear, and the floor lights up with sparks that follow your footsteps as you walk.
During the autumn theme, bubbles float softly down from the sky, and everyone comes out to enjoy it.
Tips: bringing drinks in, parking, and Nohyeong Supermarket vs Arte Museum
A few things worth noting. First, being indoors and unaffected by weather is the biggest advantage.
You can enjoy it comfortably even on rainy days, during monsoon season, or on hot days, which makes it perfect as an indoor attraction in Jeju.
You're allowed to bring drinks in, and there are even drink holders at the seating areas where you can rest in between, so I got to watch everything at a relaxed pace.
We drank strawberry juleock (muddled strawberry drink) and tangerine juice — the strawberry juleock was sweet and genuinely delicious.
The parking lot is spacious too, spacious enough that even a total beginner driver could park comfortably. That part was great as well.
Compared to Arte Museum, Arte definitely felt like it had a wider variety of media content.
If you want to focus on media art itself, go with Arte Museum. If you want a café-like place with lots to casually wander through and look at, I'd recommend visiting Nohyeong Supermarket.
