Today I'm bringing you a proper Korean BBQ visit near Samseong Station! This is Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch, well known as a great spot for meat in Samseong-dong!
The Samseong Station area is so packed with offices that grabbing a dinner spot in the evening is apparently a real battle. Gukbo Garden takes reservations through Naver Reservation but also welcomes walk-ins, so it's a place you can go to with peace of mind even on days when you need to lock down a table in a hurry. I had a meeting out in Gangnam and suddenly needed to host a business dinner, so I went looking for somewhere clean and nice nearby and found this place!
Where is Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch, and where do you park?
Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch sits right in front of Samseong Jungang Station (Line 9), at 608 Samseong-ro. It's visible the moment you come out of the exit, so it was easy to find!

The restaurant takes up a big footprint right outside the Line 9 Samseong Jungang Station exit, so it was quick to spot! There are plenty of parking spaces out front too, so it's convenient if you're driving. Valet service is available right away, and it's ₩5,000 for 2 hours, in case that's useful for anyone bringing a car.

Is Gukbo Garden's interior right for hosting guests or a family meal?
The moment I stepped into Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch, I could feel it's on a different level from your typical chain Korean BBQ place! It was very much a 'wow, this feels upscale' kind of impression. Apparently the concept is a modern reinterpretation of a traditional Korean meat restaurant, and the lighting and overall tone were calm yet elegant, so it seemed like it would work well not just for a company dinner but also for a family gathering or a blind date, haha.

Ordering was done through a tablet placed at every table! What surprised me most was that they run a corkage-free policy at all times..bb

Side dishes at Gukbo Garden, including spicy marinated crab
Before the meat I ordered arrived, they set the table with side dishes first — pickled onion, shredded scallion, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and even spicy marinated crab, and the whole spread came out really generous and upscale!

Finally, the Korean pork snow-marbled flower rib and the Gukbo snow-marbled fresh ribs I ordered arrived, and just from looking at the quality of the meat, doesn't it look amazing, haha.
Korean pork snow-marbled flower rib, grilled by staff start to finish

What I loved most about Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch was that a staff member grills the meat for you the entire time, from start to finish! It's relaxing not having to worry about oil splattering and being able to just focus on conversation, and since they handle the heat control themselves, there's zero chance of overcooking anything, haha.
We asked them to start with the Korean pork snow-marbled flower rib. True to the 'snow' in its name, the marbling is spread through the flower rib cut like snowflakes, and the texture was clearly tender with no gamey smell at all! As it browned nicely on the grill, a subtle smoky char came through, and the more you chewed, the more savory juice seemed to seep out!

The staff said the flower rib tastes best dipped in Maldon salt, and sure enough, the balance was just right!
Gukbo snow-marbled fresh ribs: 180g per person, limited quantity
Gukbo snow-marbled fresh ribs

The Gukbo snow-marbled fresh ribs were marked as a limited menu item, and it really does feel like the signature dish of Gukbo Garden! It's only served in 180g portions per person while supplies last, so during popular evening hours it seems safer to visit early.

The clean, distinct meat aroma of fresh ribs really came through, and it was grilled so the outside took on a crisp smoky char while the inside stayed juicy and moist — so delicious! They also grilled the rib bones separately, so there was the extra fun of picking them up and gnawing on them! I'd especially recommend this one to anyone who wants to enjoy the natural flavor of the meat without sauce :)
1++ hanwoo beef tartare, the dish to order alongside the grill

As something to cleanse the palate and pair alongside the grilled meat, we also ordered beef tartare! It was a classic-style tartare with fresh beef rump, pear slices, tender leafy greens, and an egg yolk on top — not gamey at all, with clean, light seasoning, so it worked well both alongside the grilled meat and as a drinking snack!

It was made with only the tender cuts, no sinew at all, so my chopsticks kept going back for more!

Dessert, dining with kids, and what Gukbo Garden costs
To finish the meal, yogurt ice cream and omija (schisandra berry) tea came out for dessert, which was a perfectly refreshing way to cleanse the palate after eating so heartily, haha. They also have high chairs and dedicated kids' meal sets in the restaurant, so it's a comfortable place to bring a family out with young children too!
The price range is definitely higher than a neighborhood chain Korean BBQ place, so if you go in focused on quality, atmosphere, and service rather than value for money, it'll make for a much more satisfying visit :) I'd strongly recommend Gukbo Garden Samsung Main Branch to anyone near Samseong Station looking for a proper business dinner spot or a special meal with someone important. Next time I want to try the seasoned rib set and the pork belly kimchi hot pot too.
