Gangnam cocktail bar with skull-glass drinks: Ugly

Today I visited Ugly, a great Gangnam Station bar for blind dates and a cocktail-and-whisky bar near Gangnam Station.

How to get to Ugly from Gangnam Station Exit 11

Ugly is on the fifth floor at 5 Gangnam-daero 96-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It is a two-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 11, so the access was excellent—it is such an easy spot to reach by subway 👍

Walk straight from Gangnam Station Exit 11, turn right at the New Balance Gangnam store, then continue a little farther and you will see the Ugly sign on the left 😊 It may be easier to look for Wawa Wa Arcade ♥️ It is on the fifth floor, but there is an elevator, so getting up was easy.

A range of seating, from bar seats to the terrace

Before entering, they check your ID and then show you to your seat; I was seated at the bar. ✔️ Make sure to bring your ID. There are main-floor tables, second-floor tables, terrace seating, and private rooms. The ceiling was so unusual that it gave the space a dreamy, mysterious atmosphere.

• You can call a staff member anytime if you need menu recommendations or an explanation.
• Each person must order one menu item.
• Only birthday cakes may be brought in from outside.
• Room tables and second-floor tables have call buttons on the lower side.
• Cocktails can take 15 minutes or longer to make during busy periods.
• All cocktail glasses are delicate thin glass, so handle them carefully.
• The smoking area is to the right of the terrace outside the venue.
• Hookah and shisha are available only at designated tables and take around 15 minutes to prepare.

Cocktails from classics to signatures

The cocktail list had a wide selection, from classics to signatures.

I spent ages deciding what to choose, then went for some distinctive cocktails.

We ordered Berry Ugly ₩19,000, Valencia ₩16,000, Cheese Plate ₩25,000, Mai Tai ₩19,000, Amaretto Sour ₩20,000, Manhattan ₩21,000, Long Island Iced ₩18,000, and Truffle Fries ₩17,000 💛

Pretzels are served as the complimentary snack, and you can get refills.

The little lamp set on every table was such a focal point at Ugly Bar ✨

Cheese Plate and Truffle Fries

The Cheese Plate at ₩25,000 comes with salami, crackers, olives, cheese, nuts, and grissini. Cheese is one of the best snacks with wine or cocktails, in my opinion! I really recommend ordering this plate ❤️

The Truffle Fries at ₩17,000 are fries topped with truffle oil and Grana Padano cheese. There is no way these could taste bad, right? 👍

From sweet cocktails to high-proof whisky cocktails

Berry Ugly, ₩19,000, comes in a skull-shaped glass. You can taste both cherry and berry, so I recommend it for something sweet and refreshing! At around 12% ABV, it is not especially strong. Above all, the glass is so cute—such a killer back view (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

Valencia, ₩16,000, is based on apricot brandy, orange, and lemon. They lightly torch the orange peel too, which really amps up the fresh citrus aroma! At around 7% ABV, it is easy to drink. Long Island Iced, ₩18,000, is fairly strong at 15% ABV. It is spirit-based and has a little cola in it too.

Mai Tai, ₩19,000, contains rum, dry curaçao, lime juice, and orange syrup. The ABV was a lower-than-expected 22%!! It is quite sweet for its strength. The presentation is so pretty, right? It was refreshingly delicious 😋

Amaretto Sour, ₩20,000, is an unusual drink containing amaretto, bourbon whisky, lemon juice, and even egg white. I wondered whether the egg white would be okay, but that was needless worry. Such a distinctive flavor!! It is 11% ABV.

Manhattan, ₩21,000, blends bourbon whisky with vermouth, so it was high-proof at 27% ABV 👍 I recommend it to whisky lovers!! If you are a lightweight, you could get tipsy easily, so I recommend it only to people confident with alcohol.

Recommended for Gangnam Station dates and second stops

The cocktail lineup is varied, the drinks look distinctive, and the atmosphere is casual, so even first-time bar visitors can come without feeling intimidated—💗the best💗 I highly recommend it as a second stop for Gangnam Station birthday parties, dates, or blind dates. If you are looking for a whisky or cocktail bar, definitely visit 👍
