I had a dinner appointment in Yeouido and was trying to figure out where to go, so this time I visited Robadayakki Sodam.

After work I wanted a light drink with grilled skewers or a warm soup dish, and the menu was varied enough that ordering a few things to share worked out great.
If you're looking for a Japanese izakaya in Yeouido, this place lets you enjoy everything from skewers to Nagasaki jjamppong to grilled shishamo in one visit, so it might be worth keeping in mind :)
What we ordered at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch, and what it cost
That day at Robadayakki Sodam Yeouido Branch we ordered three things: the 13-piece assorted skewer platter (11 kinds) for ₩24,000, Nagasaki jjamppong for ₩21,000, and grilled shishamo for ₩15,000. One skewer dish, one soup, one grilled dish — none of them overlapped in character.

Assorted skewers, 11 kinds and 13 pieces, 24,000 won
The 11-kind, 13-piece assorted skewer platter is ₩24,000. If you're at an izakaya, grilled skewers are simply non-negotiable!

I thought about ordering skewers one by one, but since I wanted to try several kinds at once, I went with the assorted 11-kind, 13-piece set. At ₩24,000 with 11 different varieties, it was fun to pick and choose. It was also a good spread for a group to share as drinking snacks.

Skewers taste best warm, right off the grill. With so many varieties, I never got tired of eating the same thing over and over — there was fun in deciding which skewer to try next.

This menu seemed especially well matched to something light like beer, a highball, or sake.
Nagasaki jjamppong, 21,000 won: a warm soup between skewers
Nagasaki jjamppong is ₩21,000. Eating skewers naturally made me crave something warm and soupy, so we ordered this alongside.

Nagasaki jjamppong at an izakaya really seems like a combination that's hard to get wrong. Ordering only grilled dishes can feel a bit lacking, but having warm soup in between made the whole menu combo so much better. Especially if you're drinking, you really need at least one soup-based snack. One bite of skewer, one sip of warm jjamppong broth — perfect!
The portion was also good for sharing, so if you're ordering several dishes, I'd recommend adding Nagasaki jjamppong as your soup dish.
Grilled shishamo, 15,000 won: light enough to keep reaching for
Grilled shishamo is ₩15,000. Last up is the shishamo — personally, I love this kind of grilled fish at izakayas, so if I see shishamo on the menu, I tend to order it every time.

The shishamo, grilled to a nice golden brown, is light but has that distinct nutty flavor, making it a great drinking snack. If the skewers are more about enjoying a variety of flavors, the shishamo is comparatively plain and simple — the kind of thing you just keep reaching for!
It also went well with the soupy jjamppong and was nice to eat in between skewers, so the three-menu combo worked better than I expected.
The menu combo to order at Robadayakki Sodam in Yeouido
If you're looking for an izakaya in Yeouido, out of what I tried at Robadayakki Sodam this time, I'd recommend ordering the assorted skewers + Nagasaki jjamppong combo rather than just one dish.
You get to pick from a variety of skewers while also having warm soup in between, which made it a great fit for a dinner-and-drinks kind of evening. Add the grilled shishamo on top if you like grilled fish, for an even heartier spread. Above all, izakayas are more fun when you order several small dishes to share rather than just one, and the three menus we ordered that day each had a different style, which made for a great combo.

If you're looking for a place in Yeouido for a light drink after work, or want grilled skewers together with a warm soup dish, give this Yeongdeungpo Japanese izakaya, Robadayakki Sodam, a try :) Next time I visit, I'd like to try some of the other skewers and Japanese dishes I didn't get to this time!
