I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat alone near Gyeyang District Office :) And they do beer well too, just so you know, haha.

For a busy lunch, hearty menu items like the double Bas burger or the double bacon cheese burger are great. The double bacon cheese burger in particular has zero vegetables — it's a total meat burger — and adding a fried egg apparently doubles the savoriness, so if you're a meat lover... you have to try it, haha. If you want something light and simple for a solo meal, the plain, clean-tasting basic Bas burger, or the sweet-and-salty combo of grilled pineapple and bacon in the Hawaiian burger, are also appealing!

What I especially liked here was that the fries served are free. You can enjoy plenty without worrying about extra cost — I think this is why I keep coming back to Bas Burger more often, haha. James Gam is the best!

And there's a variety of sauces prepared so you can pick according to your taste and dip away. I tried dipping into several of them, and they were really good. Personally, the mayo roe sauce is the best... haha. The fried items are tasty on their own, but dipping into sauce makes it more fun, if that makes sense? Haha. There was never a moment I felt greasy or tired of it.

On this visit we ordered generously — the wasabi mayo shrimp burger, the double Bas burger, and even 4 pieces of crunchy boneless chicken. The wasabi mayo shrimp burger had that springy, chewy shrimp texture, and the wasabi mayo sauce blended in with a spicy, savory kick that kept it from feeling greasy. The double Bas burger was hearty with two juicy beef patties, but the balance with fresh vegetables was so good that it didn't feel like just eating meat — the overall flavor was well-rounded.

The crunchy boneless chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside — perfect as a side to go with the burgers. My husband said this was the best chicken he's had in Gyeyang, haha. This place is great with handmade burgers, but the chicken is honestly a work of art too!

Swapping the potato fries for sweet potato fries

Here's a tip: since the James Gam fries are free-refill, you can swap the basic potato fries for sweet potato fries!! I ordered them swapped to sweet potato, and the crispy-outside, soft-inside texture plus the gentle sweetness made for a perfect sweet-and-salty combo with the salty burger.

Just look at those plump shrimp, ㅠㅠ. The quality of the burgers here is undeniable.
