Jamsil sandwich restaurant for bánh mì and extra cilantro: Town Sandwich

In short

Town Sandwich Jamsil Branch is a compact sandwich restaurant in Songpa, Seoul. I had apple jambon-beurre, egg mayo bánh mì with extra cilantro, and warm cream soup for brunch. Verdict: an easy pick for a solo sandwich meal or a casual brunch.

A compact Jamsil sandwich spot that’s easy to visit alone

The interior is quite small overall. The layout is really comfortable for eating alone, haha. It has an easygoing atmosphere where you can come by yourself, have a sandwich and a cup of coffee, and not feel awkward at all! When you’re looking for somewhere to eat alone in Jamsil, places like this matter more than you’d think, seriously haha.

I’d also seen lots of reviews saying the coffee was good, so I considered having it with the sandwiches. But we’d already had coffee, so we skipped it this time. Next time, I’ll have to try the coffee too, haha.

Ordering apple jambon-beurre, egg mayo bánh mì, and cream soup

Take a look at the menu~ We ordered three things: 🍎 apple jambon-beurre, 🥚 egg mayo bánh mì, and 🥣 cream soup!

With two sandwiches and soup, it was just right for brunch. Visually, it kind of felt like opening a packed lunch on picnic day, haha. The sandwiches came neatly cut into three pieces, each one a perfect size to pick up and eat.

Apple jambon-beurre, where ham and apple jam work together

First up, the apple jambon-beurre! It has quite a lot of ham in it. If you love jambon ham, I think you’ll like this one, haha. And as the name suggests, it has apple jam in it—the salty ham and sweet apple jam went together way better than I expected. The sweet-and-salty combination is the best, haha.

I already love apple jam, so I think that made it even more delicious for me. It was my first time having apple jam in jambon-beurre, and I was surprised by how well it worked, haha. If you’re looking for sandwiches in Jamsil and want to try something a little different, I recommend the apple jambon-beurre!

Egg mayo bánh mì with extra cilantro

The second sandwich was the egg mayo bánh mì! A bánh mì (Vietnamese-style sandwich) just isn’t complete without cilantro, right? Haha. You can add extra cilantro, so of course we did. With the cilantro, it definitely felt even more like a bánh mì! Its fragrance balanced the creamy egg mayo nicely, so it wasn’t heavy at all. There were plenty of vegetables, too, making it fresh and easy to eat. The egg mayo, vegetables, and cilantro combo had me reaching for it again and again, haha.

I tried dipping the bánh mì into the cream soup, haha. Oh, and another nice touch was that they put a paper liner under the sandwich. It may seem small, but I thought it was genuinely thoughtful. The more filling a sandwich has, the more everything tends to spill out, right? If you hold it normally, it gets on your hands and the vegetables keep escaping from between the bread—but holding the liner made it much neater to eat. I love little details like that, haha.

Cream soup that goes well with a chilly day

And then there was the cream soup we ordered alongside everything! The weather has gotten a little chilly lately, so warm soup like this was such a good match. One spoonful made me feel warmed all the way through, seriously. Since sandwiches are bread-based, having them with warm soup really makes it feel like a full meal.

Dipping the bread that came with it into the soup made it feel like croutons! I dipped every last bit of bread into the soup and enjoyed it properly. Personally, if you order a sandwich, try the cream soup too. I especially recommend it on chilly days like these, haha.

The portions were more generous than I expected, so we packed up what we couldn’t finish. I had it later as a snack too, haha.

If you like sandwiches, there are plenty of menu options, so it seems fun to choose between them. It was a good place to stop by when you want a simple brunch in Jamsil, or when you want to have a sandwich and coffee alone. The compact space also makes solo dining feel easy, haha. I especially recommend it for apple jambon-beurre fans, bánh mì fans, and anyone wanting a simple brunch, haha.
