Late dinner gomtang restaurant by Sinnonhyeon Station: Geumnyeong
In short
Geumnyeong Gomtang Yeoksam Branch is a Korean beef gomtang (clear bone broth soup) restaurant a two-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, Seoul. Arriving alone for a late dinner after a skin care appointment, the writer ordered minari gomtang (water parsley beef soup) for 14,000 won and pollock salad for 14,000 won, then added perilla leaves from the self-serve side dish bar. Deep broth with tender Korean beef plus the sweet-spicy pollock salad made Geumnyeong Gomtang an easy, filling solo meal.

I came to Sinnonhyeon Station after work for a skin care appointment, and figured dinner would be way too late if I waited until I got home — so I stopped by Geumnyeong Gomtang, a solo-dining Korean restaurant favorite near the station, and had dinner there! I ordered the deep, rich broth with warm rice along with the spicy pollock salad, which was a nice special touch. Even though it was dinner out, it was easy on the stomach, filling, and really delicious~ And the owner was super friendly too, so it was a pleasant meal all around!

What the Geumnyeong Gomtang storefront looks like

When I first came by before my appointment, it was break time. Coming back afterward, the lit-up exterior looked so pretty! Decorated with cherry blossom trees, it feels more like a café than a gomtang restaurant haha.
Inside Geumnyeong Gomtang: seating for solo diners

Opening the door, the inside was really bright and neatly arranged. The space itself is spacious, with lots of tables and generous spacing between them — perfect for a comfortable meal!
Geumnyeong Gomtang menu and prices

The menu board on the wall lets you see all the dishes at a glance, visuals included~! Gomtang and rice noodles are the mains, plus side dishes like pollock salad and boiled pork slices.
- Minari gomtang ₩14,000
- Pollock salad ₩14,000
- Zero-sugar cola ₩2,000
I noticed there was a minari (water dropwort) version of the gomtang! I love minari, and it was only ₩1,000 more, so I ordered it right away along with the pollock salad as a side~

Self-serve side dishes at Geumnyeong Gomtang
There's a self-serve corner on one side of the restaurant.

You can pick as much as you want from 6 side dishes to go with the gomtang. I grabbed some perilla leaves haha.
They brought over the earthenware pots too. The kimchi and diced radish kimchi were so generously portioned~! I served myself as much as I wanted~

How do the minari gomtang and pollock salad taste?
The minari gomtang arrived~ The contrast between the green minari and the meat looked so pretty, and it really looked like premium Korean beef, wow.
The pollock salad, neatly served in an earthenware bowl. It came with minari, napa cabbage, cucumber, and onion.

With the perilla leaves I brought over myself, it was a beautiful, appetizing spread!

A cold cola on the side, all set.
The rice is packed inside the gomtang, so it soaks up all that deep broth nicely.

I didn't expect there to be rice cakes inside, but they were chewy and so good.

Just as it looks, the beef is slow-cooked so there's no dryness at all — it's tender and just melts along with the rice haha.

The thick pollock slices, glossy with a spicy-sweet sauce. Both the flavor and color are appetite-boosting!

After the gomtang, I topped some napa cabbage with minari and pollock salad. If you come to Geumnyeong Gomtang, you absolutely have to order the pollock salad. It's really that good!!!

It's delicious whether you eat it on its own with vegetables or piled on top of the gomtang rice ㅠㅠ

The gomtang pairs really well with the perilla leaves from the self-serve bar too! It's loaded with minari, which I love, so it feels like a healthy meal.
The pollock salad also comes with plenty of minari, so laying it over napa cabbage and topping it with the pollock makes for a chewy, spicy-sweet treat.
Can't forget the kimchi and diced radish kimchi either~ With that deep broth and top-grade Korean beef, every combination felt wholesome and filling.
