Sangam gimbap takeout for two: Samhyeongje Gimbap
In short
Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch is a gimbap takeout restaurant in the basement of Nuritkum Square in Sangam-dong, Seoul. I shared two yubu gimbap rolls and tteokbokki for Saturday lunch; the filling-heavy gimbap made a satisfying meal despite the confusing route inside the building.

Thinking about the thick yubu gimbap I had before, I returned to Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch for Saturday lunch. This time, I took home original yubu gimbap, jinmichae yubu gimbap, and tteokbokki to share between two people.

How do you find the shop inside Nuritkum Square?
The shop is in unit 1029 on basement level 1 of Nuritkum Square in Sangam-dong. The route through the building was fairly complicated. If you come by car, the shop is immediately visible when you enter from the R&D Tower side. If you walk, it is easier to use the central escalator as your reference point.

Can you visit for Saturday lunch?
According to the hours listed in the original post, the shop is open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturdays. It is closed every Sunday. I visited during Saturday lunch hours.

How do you order and pack the gimbap?
Samhyeongje Gimbap specializes in yubu gimbap made with crispy fried tofu and savory-braised burdock root. There were many gimbap varieties, but I chose the original yubu gimbap to try the basic flavor again. I also ordered the jinmichae yubu gimbap, which was a new menu item at the time of my visit, along with tteokbokki.

Orders kept coming in, including delivery orders, and payment was self-service. You generally pay at the kiosk. If paying in cash, you take the change yourself from the cash set out in front.

Prepared gimbap was set out in front of the shop. The setup made it possible to pack your order quickly even when picking it up in line during lunch. Bags, chopsticks, and miso soup were also provided, with a note telling customers to take one of each.

There were also cup noodles right in front that could be enjoyed with the gimbap.

Is it takeout only, or can you eat there?
It is basically a takeout-focused shop, but there was a small table in front. I thought it could work if you wanted to sit down briefly and eat. I packed two rolls of gimbap and tteokbokki and took them home.

This time, I finished packing and drove out before 30 minutes had passed since parking. The jinmichae yubu gimbap had a sticker on the package, making it easy to distinguish from the original yubu gimbap.

At home, I arranged the gimbap and tteokbokki and prepared the miso soup too. For my taste, adding about 100 ml of water to one packet of the mini miso soup made the right concentration.

How do the original and jinmichae yubu gimbap differ in price and taste?
Both gimbap rolls had a small amount of rice and plenty of filling. The thick rolls contained fried tofu and burdock root, so each bite felt substantial.

What does the original yubu gimbap taste like?
The original yubu gimbap cost ₩5,000. Its distinctive nutty fried-tofu flavor stood out, while the generous amount of burdock root added chewiness and a savory, earthy taste. If you are choosing for the first time, I would start with the original to taste the fried tofu and burdock root.

Is the jinmichae yubu gimbap tough or spicy?
The jinmichae yubu gimbap cost ₩6,500. It contained seasoned stir-fried shredded dried squid, but it was finely chopped, so it was not tough and chewed naturally. Compared with the original, the dried squid's spicy and salty flavor was more pronounced, with a noticeable savory depth.

Is it enough for two with tteokbokki?
The Samhyeongje tteokbokki cost ₩6,400. It had the familiar seasoning-heavy flavor of a Korean snack bar, which I found comforting. The rice cakes were chewy, and the fish cake was also decent. It was not spicy to my taste.

Two rolls of gimbap and tteokbokki were exactly enough when shared between two people. With the savory miso soup, we had a filling weekend lunch. Finding the shop inside the building was a little complicated, but packing was quick, and the filling-heavy gimbap was satisfying again this time.
