Seoul Korean BBQ near Sindang Station: Beefjeong pork and sides

In short

Beefjeong Gogi Jip is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, near Sindang Station. I compared frozen and fresh pork belly at 16,000 won each, then added scallion-kimchi jjagyechi and seafood doenjang-jjigae. Verdict: come hungry with a group for great meat and seriously good sides.

I go to Sindang Station a lot with friends, and when I meet friends, I often want to load up on protein haha. Hehe. Because it’s hard to order a single serving at a meat restaurant by myself,,,, sob. I figured there must be people like me, so I made a reservation and went!

Having been there, it was way more packed with good stuff than I expected!! The meat is delicious, but the sides are seriously incredible. Plus, the owner is funny too hahaha. I took lots of photos.

Beefjeong Gogi Jip, close to Sindang Station

It’s extremely close to Sindang Station, so it’s really great even if you’re on foot. Beefjeong also has public parking nearby, which looked convenient. It’s on Catchtable, too.

Beefjeong even has a meat cake, and the owner seems to really know Instagram. They say there’s no production fee for the meat cake! It feels like the kind of Korean BBQ place where the owner would be even more excited to take care of you hahaha. There are lots of little jokes around the restaurant.

It’s a Korean BBQ restaurant serving both Korean beef and Korean pork! I told you there were lots of little jokes, right? Hahaha. Can you feel the warm, witty Korean BBQ-owner vibe?

A thoughtful basic setup, from banchan to chairs

First of all, I loved that the banchan (Korean side dishes) came out neatly in several varieties. If you need more, just ask and they’ll bring it over. I love grilling potatoes and scallions, and they had those too haha.

I also loved that the water wasn’t just bottled water but tasty water—it’s totally my style. The chairs have storage inside so your things won’t pick up the meat smell, too.

Health-charm wet wipes. Even the aprons are cute. Looking at it now, they even have a muscle-man apron.

Frozen pork belly and pork belly order

We ordered one serving each of frozen pork belly and pork belly. Putting them side by side, they looked totally different from the color alone. After trying them, the frozen pork was tasty too, while the fresh pork belly had really lively juices.

We gave the grill a quick wipe with pork fat, then properly got grilling. I wanted to eat continuously without any breaks, so I grilled it all at once.

The sound of fat splattering as soon as it hit the grill already sounded delicious sob. The aroma really gave off that this was quality meat.

Scallion-kimchi jjagyechi and Grandma's seafood doenjang-jjigae

The jjagyechi is honestly… insanely delicious, so please order it when you go to Beefjeong!! Seriously, isn’t this visual unfair? The noodles were nicely chewy, and it went so well with the meat haha.

Jjagyechi topped with scallion kimchi

Ah, and the scallion kimchi was so, so good that you need to order it for that alone… It was fermented to exactly the right point hahaha sob. I want it again.

And then, the long-awaited Grandma’s doenjang-jjigae!! We ordered rice to eat with this soybean-paste stew loaded with tofu, too.

Seafood doenjang-jjigae with tofu

After trying it, I think it uses homemade doenjang. It was refreshing and savory-salty, and definitely cut through the richness of the meat. On a chilly day, one of these would make you feel so full and warm inside. It’s good enough to be a meal on its own… and you really can order it as a standalone menu item.

Generous Grandma's seafood doenjang-jjigae

Why is this doenjang-jjigae so generous.. There was lots of tofu, plus shrimp and blue crab too sob. The deep broth and seafood were such a rich combination.

While we were taking bites of the sides, the meat cooked beautifully haha. The second I saw it turn golden, I could practically hear myself drooling hahaha.

I had a bite with jjagyechi, then meat with Grandma’s doenjang soup, then wrapped it in scallion kimchi, then ate it with the side dishes—it was all so delicious sob. The cucumber kimchi and seasoned scallion salad among the sides were both great. The owner doesn’t just have jokes; they opened a Korean BBQ place and happen to be exceptionally funny, too.

More humor here, too.

It’s all domestic Korean ingredients!!!!!! Ah seriously, I’m coming back. I’m thinking I might even post on Instagram to prove this is a repeat-visit place. If you go after seeing this, go with several people. We did eat all of this as two people, though.. heh. We came back after a very happy mukbang haha.

Ah, and outside food is allowed too. So hip. But if you bring something, you have to give the owner some hahaha. That sign was so funny, but I was too drunk on the meat flavor to photograph it sob. Anyway, Beefjeong Gogi Jip was such a feel-good place haha. Next time, I’m going to try the Beefjeong hamburger too haha. Highly recommended!
