Euljiro dining restaurant with charcoal octopus: Pyu Euljiro

In short

Pyu Euljiro is a dining restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, with pasta and charcoal-grilled dishes in a spacious open setting. I enjoyed the bisque pasta, charcoal octopus with romesco, and yuzu chicken thigh, plus drinks that paired well with the food. For a roomy, atmospheric meal in Euljiro, I recommend Pyu Euljiro.

Pyu Euljiro location and parking

I heard that a lovely new restaurant had opened in Euljiro, so I went to check it out. This is Pyu Euljiro (퓨 을지로), just right for anyone looking for a good Euljiro restaurant, an important gathering, or a date.

It is at 102, 1F, 27 Mareunnae-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea (서울특별시 중구 마른내로 27 1층 102호), open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with last orders at 20:20. You can use the building’s basement parking: the first hour is free, and each additional hour is ₩6,000. The discount can be combined with those from other stores, up to a maximum of two hours.

Even though there are public parking lots nearby, they are packed with cars, so parking around here can be difficult. I liked that Pyu Euljiro has parking in the building. There was also a board of signature dishes in front of the restaurant, so it was nice to look over the menu before going in.

Reserved tables and a spacious restaurant atmosphere

We made a reservation, and when we arrived at our reserved time, we were shown to a table set with cards bearing our names.

It is hard to find a restaurant right in the middle of Euljiro with this kind of open feel across 70 pyeong. Beyond the generous space, the atmosphere was great too, so I thought it would be perfect for a gathering 👍

Non-alcoholic drinks, beer, and review-event wine

The menu had plenty of options, from pasta and main dishes to drinks and alcohol. You could also receive a glass of house wine through a review event, so we joined in 😋 (You can substitute a regular drink instead of alcohol.)

Pyu Euljiro menu and review-event information

The signature non-alcoholic drink, Bergamore, was ₩14,500. I was curious because it is a blend of bergamot and strawberry, so I ordered it.

Cheongdam-dong Daughter-in-law was ₩8,500. It is a clean, smooth beer with notes of caramel and nutty cookies. It seemed to be an award-winning beer, and it tasted quite good. I had actually debated ordering the Neomsabyeok beer because I was curious, but I think I made a good choice with this one.

The house wine from the review event was easy-drinking and clean, just right with the food. With such a varied selection of alcohol and other drinks, this felt like a good place to pair beverages with a meal.

Savory bisque pasta with shrimp sauce

The first dish was the Bisque Pasta, ₩26,000. It is pasta with a deeply simmered shrimp sauce, topped with champagne foam for a deep, sea-like aroma. I had actually wanted the signature Spanish mackerel pasta, but the fish dishes were unavailable that day because of a supply issue, so I ordered the bisque pasta instead.

First of all, it looked beautiful. I cannot really handle fishy-tasting food, so I wondered if it might be a little fishy, but it was not at all. The umami from the shrimp sauce made it delicious.

Charcoal octopus and romesco with a gentle kick

Next came the Charcoal Octopus and Romesco, ₩34,000. It is grilled octopus carrying a charcoal aroma, served with a spicy romesco sauce.

The octopus was plump and had a charcoal aroma, while the romesco added a slight heat that made it even tastier. There were wood ear mushrooms too, and unexpectedly, they did not stand out awkwardly—they worked well with everything.

Tomato risotto with grilled vegetables and barley texture

The Garden Tomato Risotto was ₩25,000. It is a clean-tasting tomato risotto where you can taste the freshness of various grilled vegetables.

The tomato-based risotto was delicious with the grilled eggplant and tomatoes, which paired nicely with it. I also liked the texture of the barley.

Yuzu chicken thigh grill worth the 20-minute wait

Our final dish was the Yuzu Chicken Thigh Grill, ₩28,000. It is charcoal-grilled chicken thigh dipped in a bright yuzu ponzu sauce. We were told the chicken takes about 20 minutes to prepare, but as we ate the dishes arriving one by one, it came out at just the right time.

The well-grilled chicken thigh, with its charcoal aroma, was of course delicious, and it went well with the refreshing yuzu sauce. The sauce was not overpowering, so as the menu description suggests, I think it would be nice to scoop them up together with a spoon 😋👍

From the drinks to the food, I enjoyed everything. It was so nice to have a meal somewhere spacious and atmospheric in Euljiro, so I recommend Pyu Euljiro for a gathering or date with family and friends in a place with a great mood~ 🤗
