Izakaya for private events in Yongridan-gil: sunset seats, Hatpiendo
In short
Hatpiendo is an izakaya in Yongridan-gil, Yongsan, Seoul, taking up the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building in the alley between Sinyongsan and Samgakji. From a 2nd-floor window seat I watched the sunset over ankimo bomb salt gimbap (seaweed rice roll) at 25,000 won, Napolitan pasta at 19,000 won and two non-alcoholic plum highballs, while the 3rd floor is open enough to book for a private party. For an atmospheric dinner in Yongridan-gil, Hatpiendo is an easy recommendation.

Where is Hatpiendo?
Hatpiendo is an izakaya at 12 Hangang-daero 54-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, 2nd floor, tucked in an alley on the way from Sinyongsan to Samgakji. There's a sign on the 2nd floor — look for the one that says 'Hatpiendo.'
Hours are quite different from usual right now because of the holiday period, and they're set to change again soon, so checking Naver Place is the most accurate way to know 😍 Paid parking is available, and private rental is possible too.

Funny thing — right as you walk into the building there's an open convenience store, and it has a Hatpiendo sign inside, so I followed that sign in haha. There was even a waiting zone on the way up to the 2nd floor! The place uses both the 2nd and 3rd floors, and I think it's popular because the atmosphere is genuinely great and it serves dishes you don't often see elsewhere.

What are the 2nd-floor window seats like at sunset?
The 2nd floor of Hatpiendo has all kinds of seating — hall seats, counter (dachi) seats, window seats, and sofa seats. The interior is just so pretty ㅠㅠ

Overall I got the strong impression that the space was small but the layout was thoughtful and varied! Somehow even though it's not a huge space, the seating was arranged so efficiently that finding a spot was never uncomfortable.
I went back and forth between the counter seat and the window seat, but the sunset view from the window was so pretty I chose the window ,, 😍

If you go to the corner seat, there's a big sofa you can use — not really for sitting, but perfect for putting your bags!

For ordering, you just scan the acrylic plate placed on each table and it takes you straight to the order screen — so cool ,, 👍

Can you rent the 3rd floor for a private party?
The 3rd floor of Hatpiendo is a spacious hall available for private rental. We placed our order and went up to check it out! Just a heads-up — all payment happens on the 2nd floor.

The 3rd floor was so open that you'd instinctively go 'wow, this is big' the moment you see it! There are plenty of hall seats, but they're not crammed together, so I felt the space was really well used. Apparently it can be rented out too, so if you're looking for a shoot location or a party venue, it might be worth contacting them ahead of time!!
The windows are huge too, so the sunlight and the sunset pour right into the space — a lethal dose of romance ,,

Came back down to the 1st floor, and the view from there is killer too!
What we ordered at Hatpiendo and what it cost
- Ankimo bomb salt gimbap ₩25,000
- Napolitan pasta ₩19,000
- Non-alcoholic plum highball x2 ₩16,000
I wanted the mackerel hand roll sushi, but it's a daily-limited menu item, so I missed out. Sob ㅠㅠ

How does the ankimo bomb salt gimbap taste?
Hatpiendo's ankimo (monkfish liver) bomb salt gimbap (₩25,000) really does come loaded with ankimo like it's a bomb. It was actually my second choice — I went with the ankimo gimbap ❤ I'd never had ankimo before so I was really curious about the taste, and I'd heard it's an expensive ingredient, so with a name like 'ankimo bomb gimbap' I was expecting it to really go for it!
And it really is a bomb — every bit of ankimo I'll eat in this lifetime felt like it was all in this one dish hahahahahaha.

Napolitan pasta and the non-alcoholic plum highball
And then the Napolitan pasta! They topped it with a whole fried egg, and cutting it into pieces to eat was so good.

It went especially well with the plum highball! Being non-alcoholic made it easy to drink without worry, and the refreshing sweet plum aroma was great for cleansing the palate and quenching your thirst.

The menu lineup is amazing ,, 😍

The ankimo salt gimbap is made with rice that's already seasoned with salt and piled high with ankimo, so like in the photo, topping it with wasabi and pickled ginger and eating it all in one bite is just insane flavor - !! You really need a generous amount of ankimo per roll to get the ratio right hahaha.
We left full and very satisfied ,, 👍 If you have plans in Yongridan-gil, I'd recommend visiting for dinner!
