Jamsil gopchang restaurant, a 4-year regular's go-to: Jinseong Hanwoo
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a beef gopchang (grilled small intestine) restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul, a 10-minute walk from Jamsil Station Exit 10, serving hanwoo beef slaughtered the same day. A 4-year regular who eats gopchang only at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang came with a group of three. The group ordered 2 gopchang and 1 daechang (large intestine), added 1 more of each and finished with yangbap (fried rice), while the minari (water dropwort) pickled garlic sauce and three house-made kimchi cut through the richness. The verdict: if you eat gopchang in Bangi-dong, go to Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang.

Today's post is about the place in Bangi-dong that piles on the beef gopchang! Top-tier gopchang in Jamsil's Bangi-dong: Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang.
There are tons of gopchang restaurants in the Jamsil Bangi-dong food alley, but this is the only one I go to. Great value beef gopchang, and the best beef gopchang in Bangi-dong, no question!!
Eating gopchang in Bangi-dong? It's Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang. Why?
- The hanwoo (Korean beef) gopchang and daechang, butchered same-day, are delicious.
- The three kinds of house-made kimchi are insane.
- The minari (water dropwort) and cheongyang chili sauce that comes with it is amazing.
- And the yangbap (tripe fried rice) finish is the grand finale.
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, my go-to gopchang spot that I've always paid for out of my own pocket. It's already got a big waiting line, but for anyone visiting for the first time, let me pack in all the info — parking, waiting, menu. Let's go〰️
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Branch: location, parking, hours

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is 603m, about a 10-minute walk, from Jamsil Station Exit 10, in the Bangi-dong food alley. There's no restaurant parking lot, so you'd have to use nearby public parking, but the alley is narrow and awkward, so I'd recommend public transit if you can〰️
Hours are Mon–Fri 16:00–24:00 (last order 22:00, Friday 23:00), Sat 13:00–24:00 (last order 23:00), Sun 15:00–24:00 (last order 23:00).
How does the waitlist work?
There are waiting chairs set up outside Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Branch. To check on waiting: go inside and see if there's an open table — if so, you'll be seated right away. If it's full, write your name and party size in marker on the outdoor waitlist board shown in the photo below and wait!

It's to the left of the entrance outside. Wish I'd gone in just a little earlier than the person ahead of me…

Sitting in the waiting chairs, I learned a new fact — this place was featured on the TV show Live Today. I'm always too busy rushing in to eat and rushing out stuffed to ever notice things like this, haha,,

The inside is completely full. If you show up after 6pm, expect to wait basically every time. With about 10 tables it's not huge, but turnover is pretty good so the waitlist moves fast. Apparently group bookings are possible too — I'd love to have a work dinner here.
Menu and ordering tips — 3 portions per grill plate

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang's menu is really simple! Tip: only 3 portions fit on one grill plate. We came as a party of three and were going to order gopchang x2 + daechang x2, but switched to gopchang x2, daechang x1, then added more as we ate!

The reason I can't help but love Jinseong Gopchang — everything is domestic (Korean-sourced).

My personal recommendation is to order more gopchang than daechang! Since it's same-day butchered hanwoo gopchang, zero gamey smell is just a given. The combo of crisp outside and savory, creamy inside is genuinely a work of art.

You have to add the minari pickled garlic sauce
Adding the minari pickled garlic (mijeolma) sauce at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is non-negotiable. If you like cheongyang chili, you can ask for extra! Dip EVERY single vegetable that comes on top of the gopchang pan into this. Even the kimchi.
Sweet and tangy sauce with fragrant minari and spicy garlic-chili flavor — the pairing with the rich hanwoo gopchang and daechang is insane. I think I eat more here than at other gopchang places because of this sauce.

The minari pickled garlic sauce they give you as standard — and since I love spicy food, I load it up with extra cheongyang chili.

Three house-made kimchi and green onion kimchi to go
Three house-made kimchi! Mustard leaf kimchi, green onion kimchi, ponytail radish kimchi. Every single one is just perfectly fermented, tangy, and so delicious!!!!

Not to your liking, you say!!! I could eat two bowls of rice with just this kimchi alone!!!

Seems like a lot of customers wanted to buy the kimchi like I did, because the green onion kimchi is sold to go. Green onion kimchi 700g – ₩20,000. I don't cook much at home these days, so I debated buying some about 200 times.
The chive namul (seasoned chives) is great grilled, or eaten alongside the gopchang — it cuts the richness completely.
Gopchang x2 + daechang x1, grilled in 5-minute timed rounds
The moment we've all been waiting for!!!! Side dishes arrive, then the prepared gopchang x2 + daechang x1

Long gopchang, plump daechang, along with various vegetables (bean sprouts, chives, cabbage, potato), rice cake, and kimchi.
You have to wait until the 5-minute stopwatch goes off. At Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, staff cut the gopchang for you directly, so you can enjoy it more comfortably and more deliciously.

Once the vegetables and daechang are first-cut and flipped like this, you wait another 5 minutes.
✨ Look at that gorgeous color… the outside of the gopchang here is genuinely crisp, and when you bite into it, the ecstasy is on another level. I didn't call it top-tier gopchang in Bangi-dong for nothing!!
When the second alarm goes off, they cut the beef gopchang — after that you can start eating the gopchang and vegetables! They tell you to save the daechang for later since it tastes better when the outside gets a bit crispier!!

Ta-da~ Adding extra green onion kimchi or chives and grilling them together in the gopchang fat is so good that I added more halfway through.
You can feel the crispness of the outside just from picking it up with chopsticks — chills〰️✨ Dunking it into the mijeolma sauce and piling on minari, green onion, and chili on top is insane. You could genuinely become happy doing this.
The plump daechang shrank down as the outside cooked crisp, but the fat that concentrated and the crispy skin as it shrank — amazing..🥹

What happens if you add gopchang x1 + daechang x1?
Cleansing your palate midway with the tangy kimchi means you never feel weighed down or greasy even while eating the rich gopchang. Partway through we added gopchang x1 + daechang x1. When you do, they gather up the remaining gopchang and vegetables you were eating and take the pan away to redo it.

The newly added order comes out freshly set up.

The waiting starts again, but it's less painful this time since you can still eat the leftover gopchang and vegetables while you wait, haha

Ah, perfectly crisp-outside, tender-inside grilled daechang.
Ending a meal without getting sick of it even when you're stuffed, staying just as delicious as the first bite — that's genuinely hard to pull off. Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang has been consistently satisfying every time. Whenever I've brought friends here, they've all raved about it too, and ever since, whenever it's gopchang in Bangi-dong, we automatically come here. I've officially decided this is the real deal restaurant of the Bangi-dong food alley!!

Finishing with yangbap and steamed egg
Even when I'm stuffed to bursting, I always order this yangbap (tripe fried rice) at the end! The combo of house-made kkakdugi (radish kimchi), tripe, seaweed flakes, and radish salad tastes so good you can't help but eat it, even full ㅠㅜ
Burst the soft-boiled egg, mix it in casually, and you're set. Take a big spoonful and your eyes just fly open at the taste 👀! Top it with mustard leaf kimchi and ponytail radish kimchi and there are no words〰️ Even though it's a big portion, it just disappears in a flash!!🔥
The steamed egg that arrives perfectly timed — blow on it to cool, ho ho~ and eat it together, even more delicious, I'm telling you?!!

And just like that, once the storm passed through, nothing was left behind, haha
Overall review
Delicious every single time — Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, a Bangi-dong favorite. Anyone eating gopchang in the Bangi-dong food alley, please, go visit this place once~!! You'll taste something you've never tasted at other places!!! This is a real review from someone who's eaten only this place's gopchang for 4 years, so definitely go check it out!

Happiness really isn't far away after all, haha
