Cloudy-day Yeongjongdo café: banana pudding, Taiwanese sandwich, 5PM
In short
5PM sunset hour is a bakery café on the ground floor of the KCC Switzen shopping arcade in Yeongjong Sky City, Incheon. On a first trip to Yeongjongdo, the writer came to watch the sunset, found the sky cloudy, and stopped at 5PM sunset hour near closing time. The salt bread was already gone, but the writer and their partner shared banana pudding, financiers and other baked sweets, ice cream and a Taiwanese sandwich with coffee. Go early to 5PM sunset hour if you want salt bread, but even in the evening the banana pudding and baked sweets make it a satisfying Yeongjongdo dessert café.

What kind of Yeongjongdo café is 5PM sunset hour?
5PM sunset hour is a bakery café on the ground floor of the KCC Swiss shopping arcade (Sangga-dong) in Yeongjong Sky City, Incheon. It's inside an apartment complex, so parking was easy. It was my first time visiting Yeongjongdo, and this café was the very first place I stopped.

The Porto sunset behind the name 5PM sunset hour
The owner reportedly named the café after memories of living in Porto. I searched the name on Naver and found a kind explanation: they wanted to capture the warm, peaceful time of watching the sunset every day from the hill behind their house in Porto, ending each day that way.
The name is so pretty, and it turns out it has a meaning behind it! I'd come to Yeongjongdo to see the sunset, but it was so cloudy I could barely see anything. So the café came first. I'd wanted to visit once I got to Yeongjongdo!

There are tables along the side in front of the shop, so you can eat outside too.

What bread is left at 5PM sunset hour near closing time?
5PM sunset hour sells a range of bakery items and drinks, including salt bread, egg tarts and financiers. I got there close to closing, so I couldn't see any salt bread or bread loaves, which was a bit of a shame..! There's a schedule for when bread comes out posted in front of the shop, so I'll check that next time.
I stopped here before dinner, but I was determined to eat something tasty anyway: baked sweets and banana pudding! Plus ice cream, which my partner loves. And since I was starving, I also ordered a sandwich, just a light one(?)!
5PM sunset hour has set menus too, and the prices are reasonable! At this price, you should really get a set rather than just a single salt bread or a single coffee.

Even in the evening, 5PM sunset hour still had a decent selection of baked sweets: financiers, Lotus scones and Isigny butter rice cakes.

What is the interior of 5PM sunset hour like?
The interior of 5PM sunset hour is so cute and cozy. True to the name, the lighting has a sunset glow. The sun-shaped light by the counter, like a sunrise or sunset, was pretty too.

How do the banana pudding, baked sweets and Taiwanese sandwich taste?
My favorite at 5PM sunset hour was the banana pudding, and warm coffee with a financier (a small French almond butter cake) was a great combo too. I meant to eat inside, but the weather was nice, so we moved to the table in front of the shop!
I mostly had the coffee and financier, and only tasted the ice cream, pudding and sandwich! The pudding was really good. Salt bread would have been a great match, so that's a shame. Salt bread hotspot 5PM, next time I'll come early before it sells out!

My partner wanted two ice creams, I talked them out of it and picked the pudding, and I'm glad I got the banana pudding. Warm coffee and baked sweets went together so well! I'd also never had a Taiwanese sandwich before 5PM sunset hour, and it was tasty (as a light pre-meal bite)!

Outdoor seats, or takeout to the beach
5PM sunset hour has lots of outdoor seats, so on a day like these it would be lovely to eat outside. You can also take your order to go and head to the Yeongjongdo beach. I carried my coffee with me partway through eating. It felt like a little neighborhood café abroad. 5PM sunset hour, I'll come play again!
