Gangnam Korean BBQ restaurant for a promotion dinner: Bongu Hwarro
In short
Bongu Hwarro is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, with roomy tables for groups. We celebrated a friend’s promotion with thin-sliced pork belly, thick pork belly, soy-marinated crab, one free Hangang ramyeon per person, and ice cream. Verdict: a fun, filling choice for a celebratory group dinner.

A Gangnam Korean BBQ restaurant picked for a promotion celebration
Since it was a promotion celebration, we wanted somewhere we could sit comfortably, chat, and eat something delicious 👀✨ While looking for a Gangnam Korean BBQ restaurant that could fit a group, we decided on Bongu Hwarro (봉우화로) Gangnam Station Branch 🥩🔥

When we got there, I liked that the restaurant was more spacious than I expected 🙌🏻 The tables were spread out nicely too, so we could eat comfortably without feeling cramped or stuffy 😊

We all raised a toast to celebrate our friend’s promotion 🍻🎉 and it was lovely to have a relaxed meal while catching up on this and that with friends I had not seen in ages 💕
Starting things off by waking up our appetites with dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth!

Among Gangnam Station Korean BBQ spots, I thought it would be a great fit for anyone looking for somewhere to visit with friends or for a work dinner with a group 😆 Since this was a promotion celebration, we ordered our meat properly too 😋🥩

A Korean BBQ restaurant with green onion kimchi too! They really know what they are doing, haha. It was delicious with the seasoned scallion salad 🌿 and just as good wrapped in ssam (lettuce wraps) with garlic for one big bite 🧄🥩 If you come to a Gangnam Station Korean BBQ restaurant, you have to eat meat this generously, right? 😎🔥

Further inside, there is also a lovely little space like this, hehe 🤍🐥
Thin-sliced and thick pork belly together
We started with thin-sliced pork belly 🔥🔥 Because it was sliced so thin, it cooked quickly once it hit the grill, making it perfect to eat first when you are hungry 🤤

More than anything, the restaurant was spacious and the seating had plenty of room, so it was easy for a group to sit and talk 😊 When you are choosing a Gangnam Station Korean BBQ restaurant for a friend gathering or work dinner, a roomy restaurant is quite an important point, and Bongu Hwarro Gangnam Station Branch was good in that respect 🙌🏻

We watched the thin-sliced pork belly sizzling away and all waited for it to cook faster, haha 😂 Once it was nicely browned and I took a bite, it was savory with a gentle smoky flavor—so good ❤️

Soy-marinated crab alongside the meat
There was another menu item that was quietly such a welcome surprise while we ate the meat: soy-marinated crab 🦀✨ Being able to have soy-marinated crab at a Korean BBQ restaurant made the meal feel even more varied and generous.

Adding bites of the salty soy-marinated crab here and there went well with the meat and kept my appetite going, ho ho ho 🤭🦀

After properly getting our appetites going with thin-sliced pork belly, we also tried regular thick-cut pork belly 🥩🔥 It definitely had a different charm from the thin-sliced version!

As the thick pork belly browned on the grill, the outside became crisp while the inside stayed moist, with a great bite 🤤❤️

A large piece was delicious with just a light dip in salt, delicious with seasoned scallion salad, and of course delicious tucked into a ssam with garlic. This is exactly why pork belly is so good 🌿🧄🥩
The thin-sliced pork belly was great for eating quickly, while the thick pork belly was fun to grill slowly, so ordering both was even better 🙌🏻

Celebrating while eating delicious meat made the atmosphere even nicer 🥰

One free Hangang ramyeon per person and dessert
Another thing I loved about Bongu Hwarro, this Gangnam Station Korean BBQ restaurant, was the Hangang ramyeon (instant noodles cooked at a self-service machine) 🍜❤️ We each got one Hangang ramyeon for free, so we picked one out and diligently cooked our own 😆🙌🏻
We were quite full after eating plenty of meat, but you just cannot say no to ramyeon, can you…? 😂🍜

Bringing a ramyeon each and cooking it ourselves somehow made it feel like eating ramyeon by the Han River 🔥 Taking a sip of hot ramyeon broth between bites of meat was just soooo delicious ㅠㅠㅠ 🤤

The salty, warming broth was just right to finish after the meat, and in the end everyone cleared one ramyeon each, haha 🍜🤣
Rather than ending with just meat at a Gangnam Station Korean BBQ restaurant, getting free Hangang ramyeon too made the whole meal more fun 😋

And we made sure to get dessert too 🍦🤎 To finish the meal, we could sprinkle Joripong (crunchy puffed-grain cereal) over ice cream 😆 It was much better than plain ice cream—the Joripong added a crisp, nutty texture, and it was unexpectedly delicious, haha.

One bite of ice cream followed by a crunchy bite of Joripong was just perfect as dessert after the meat 🍦✨
Meat → Hangang ramyeon → ice cream, and I was really stuffed, hahaha 🤣🤣 But since it was a day to celebrate our friend’s promotion, eating delicious things, laughing our hearts out, and talking together made it all the more enjoyable 🎉💕
