Anyang fish grill restaurant with soy-marinated crab: Hwaddeugeuro
In short
Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch is a grilled-fish restaurant in Bisan-dong, Anyang, Gyeonggi. I visited with my child and mom for gulbi and soy-marinated crab, plus a Korean-style self-service side-dish bar. Verdict: a satisfying, healthful Korean meal with especially tender fish and pleasantly mild crab.

Lunch beside the kids' café
This place is right beside the kids' café my child goes to, so we stopped by for lunch. The main branch is in Cheonan. I had eaten at the main branch before, and I remember it having lots of salad-bar dishes. I enjoyed the main branch so much that I went to the Bisan Branch in Anyang with high expectations.

Gulbi and soy-marinated crab à la carte
Off we go for a delicious lunch~ Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo is a grilled-fish specialty restaurant. I went with my child and mom. There was gulbi on the menu, so I ordered it for my mom. Instead of fish, I tried the gejang (soy-marinated raw crab) myself.
The fish, grilled in a clay oven, was nicely light. Three fish came out, perfect for sharing one each, haha. Fish is my child's favorite! I picked the meat off the bones for my child and tried a bite too; the flesh was tender and delicious. The bones came away easily, so it was easy to eat.
We ordered à la carte rather than a set, and the portion for one person was just right. I honestly wasn't expecting much from the gejang, but it was tastier than I thought. It wasn't salty or cloying, and it was seasoned just right, so I enjoyed it. Slurp, chomp chomp, yum yum. Mixed into rice, it was a total rice thief! I completely fell for the soy-marinated crab that day, and I kept thinking about how good it was even the next day.

Standard side dishes and the Korean self-service bar
There were six standard side dishes: lotus root, seasoned bellflower root, young radish kimchi, ssamjang peppers, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and oyster mushrooms. They were all so nourishing. Doenjang-guk (soybean-paste soup) came too, and my child ate it well.
You can get more side dishes at the self-service bar if you run short. The dishes at Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo are so elegant too.^^

There is a self-service bar like those at shabu-shabu buffet restaurants, but since this is a grilled-fish specialty restaurant, the self-service dishes were mainly Korean food.
Bracken fern namul, nurungji (scorched rice), and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) were items not included among the standard side dishes. With so many sides, it was a great place to have a bit of everything. Such a wholesome table, such a healthy meal. My mom and our little one both ate really well.^^
There was a salad bar in one corner, with fresh vegetable ingredients displayed so you could make bibimbap (mixed rice). We were too full to eat bibimbap though, haha.
Even the station for leftover dishes was arranged neatly, simply, and tidily.

A spacious, bright dining room
The kitchen looked hygienic and clean. Maybe because the ladies working in the kitchen move so quickly, the food comes out fast here.

The dining room was spacious and comfortable. Its atmosphere and interior had a very eco-friendly, nature-inspired feel, and it was bright and cheerful. The chairs and tables were all clean too.^^
Our child was looking at the model insects. There are things to see that spark children's curiosity, so it is also a nice place to come with kids.

Set menus and the one disappointing thing about coffee
The prices were a little high, but the full-meal menus were substantial and came with lots of different things, so I think the value was decent.

At the Cheonan branch, I had the restorative two-person set. I remember it being a generous meal with one eel, two other fish, and braised fish. If you're hungry, go for a set menu and you'll leave full, haha. And if you love grilled fish, I totally recommend the set menu because it comes with a variety of fish.

There was just one disappointing thing here, haha. They only had milk coffee and no Americano, so that was a little disappointing.

Still, recommended recommended!^^ It was right inside the entrance on the right, so it was easy to find. Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch is on the first floor inside the Kids Mom Center. A great spot for a tasty lunch~~
