It had been a while since my husband and I had enjoyed a cozy date just for the two of us, so we went looking for somewhere with a lovely atmosphere and visited Brivit Gangnam Station, a European home-style casual dining spot that has been getting lots of attention lately for both its looks and flavors. Once we got there, I immediately understood why it is so popular for dates, Gangnam Station blind dates, get-togethers with friends, and pre-wedding family meetings—from the cozy, atmospheric interior to the neat plating!!

What are the exterior and interior like?

As you walk down the pretty alley between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station, you will spot an exterior with fresh green plants and a stylish deep-pink awning. It has the exotic feel of a little European café or restaurant from the entrance onward, with plenty of photo-worthy spots that make you reach for your camera before even going in.

Inside, natural wood tones and soft olive green come together for a warm, comfortable mood. The tables are nicely spaced too, making it easy to have a private conversation. It was perfect for chatting quietly, so it would be a great choice for a first blind-date meeting or an important pre-wedding family gathering.

The seats by the large windows are especially nice: beyond the open windows, you can look down onto an exotic little alley scene and enjoy bright sunshine in the daytime or a softly lit mood in the evening.

At the self-service bar on one side, tangy house-made radish and cucumber pickles beautifully colored with beet, along with cups and wet wipes, were neatly and hygienically prepared, so it was easy to help ourselves throughout the meal.

Starting fresh with tomato salad

This was the Greek Yogurt & Tomato Salad, a refreshing way to wake up the appetite. It brought together cute little marinated cherry tomatoes, thick and nutty Greek yogurt, basil pesto, and an olive oil dressing.

Crispy beet chips and thinly sliced radish added texture, making it just right for refreshing the palate with fragrant, bright flavors before the main meal.

It was wonderfully balanced alongside wine or an ade, a Korean-style fruit soda.

The cheese-and-tomato combination was truly a work of art.

Rabbit pasta that made us gasp at the cuteness first

The moment it landed on the table, we could not help saying, “It’s so cute!” This was the Bunny Hop! Rabbit Pasta. Adorable rabbit-shaped mozzarella cheeses were nestled over perfectly cooked rigatoni, each with olive ears and a carrot nose. Such a darling look that it almost felt too cute to eat.

Flavor-wise, the fresh tomato base was packed with squid, shrimp, and other seafood for deep savoriness, with a lightly spicy kick that made it a dream pairing with the creamier dishes.

The sauce soaked beautifully into the chewy cheese and satisfyingly firm rigatoni, and I enjoyed every bite without getting tired of it. Now I see why people rave about it as a Gangnam Station pasta spot!

Brivit Steak with a pour of aligot cheese

Finally, the highlight of the day arrived: Brivit Steak! Tender sous-vide beef chuck flap steak came piled generously onto one plate with roasted whole garlic, scallions, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, and a large, freshly baked popover bread in the style of Yorkshire pudding.

At the table, a staff member performed the wonderful spectacle of pouring French aligot cheese—a fondue-style blend of Aligot cheese and mashed potato—over the steak and bread like a waterfall. It was a feast for the eyes, and its mouthwatering aroma was incredible.

The rich red wine sauce, moist and tender sous-vide beef, and nutty, stretchy cheese came together so beautifully that every bite brought an automatic little gasp of delight.

Dunking the crisp-outside, soft-inside, nutty bread generously into the cheese and white sauce was another absolute treat.

With its storybook-like exterior, tasteful interior, photo-ready plating, and excellent flavors, it made my date with my husband feel even more romantic and special.
