Where is Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch? Tower8 basement by Jongak Station

Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch is a newly opened sushi and sashimi restaurant in unit 104, basement level 1 of the Tower8 building near Jongak Station. It's open daily 11:00–21:30 with last order at 21:00, and 15:00–17:00 is marked separately.

This time we visited a place that recently opened near Jongak Station ʚ♥ɞ There's tons of places to eat around Jongak Station since so many office workers pass through, whether it's weekday lunch or dinner, but this spot caught my eye this time. It's on the basement level of the Tower8 building.

As soon as you go in beside the building there's an elevator, so just take it straight down to B1 :)

The exterior was clean and inviting — the kind of place you could pop into casually when you're craving sushi or sashimi while walking by! When you're looking for sushi around Jongak Station these days, a lot of places turn out to be pricier than expected, but here the menu prices themselves won me over right away!!!

Seating at Choe Uyeong Sushiya: solo seats, bar seats and tables for 4 and 6

Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch has everything from solo seats to bar seats, 4-person tables, and 6-person tables. It wasn't stuffy or overly formal, so we could eat comfortably — it seemed especially good for families eating sushi together, or for office workers grabbing a simple lunch :)

What the family ordered: 40,000-won mixed sashimi and 13,000-won 12-piece sushi

That day we ordered the mixed sashimi for 40,000 won, the 12-piece mixed sushi for 13,000 won, and added single pieces of fried tofu sushi and shrimp sushi for our child. They brought out the soup right away too.

Sashimi can't happen without a drink, right..? We ordered beer and they served it up in a pretty Stella glass!

What comes in the 12-piece mixed sushi for 13,000 won

This was what I was most looking forward to that day! 12 pieces for 13,000 won was such a great price... There were plenty of varieties so it was fun trying one after another, and eating sushi piece by piece is all about enjoying that rice-and-fish combo, right? If you're looking for sushi in Jongno without breaking the bank, this seemed like a solid choice!!

Halibut, salmon, red seabream, shrimp, beef tartare gunkan, monkfish liver gunkan, cuttlefish — basically all my favorites in one plate..!?!???

Inside the 40,000-won mixed sashimi platter: about nine kinds of fish

The mixed sashimi comes piled generously on one plate, with around 9 different kinds including tuna, halibut, cuttlefish, scallop, raw shrimp, salmon, and crab. It goes from familiar options like tuna and halibut to different textures like cuttlefish, scallop, and raw shrimp, so it was fun picking one after another. When I eat sashimi I usually get bored fast if it's all the same texture, but here the variety kept things interesting, going from one thing to something totally different next!!!!?

The salmon came with an onion-mayo sauce on the side, so I could enjoy it plain and then with the sauce for a different taste, and having crab included too made the plate feel more substantial than expected >< Above all, being able to try so many kinds of sashimi at once for 40,000 won was really satisfying.

It was so good I was scarfing it down and forgot to photograph half of it, but it was seriously amazing... Deliveries kept coming in while we were eating too. Clearly a popular spot!!

Eating fresh, chewy fish and having a drink like this made for such a happy day... At this quality for this price I think we absolutely have to come back.

Mochi and scallop tempura ordered one piece at a time

While we were eating we ordered mochi tempura and scallop tempura as a drinking snack. Being able to order just one piece each meant even the tempura was great value,,,,

Takeout-only kiosk at Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch

I noticed on the way out that there's a takeout-only kiosk. Probably because it's an office district, a lot of people seemed to be getting food to go.

Our family left feeling really full and satisfied — sashimi, sushi, kid-friendly dishes, and tempura all in one meal. What stood out most was how affordable the whole thing was overall — genuinely great value. Since it's only been open about two months, it seems like a good pick to recommend to anyone looking for a new sushi spot near Jongak Station, and worth stopping by if you want sushi and sashimi together near Jongak. Especially if you're searching for good-value sushi in Jongno or Gwanghwamun, this is a place worth remembering :)
