The blazing summer has passed and cool autumn is quietly moving in. Maybe it's the seasonal itch, but lately I've had this urge to change my hairstyle completely, haha.
My hair has been through a lot of perms and bleaching, so it's pretty damaged — and honestly that's been a low-key source of stress :( No matter how much hair essence I slather on, it keeps tangling and getting harder to manage, and it was starting to look dry and messy too, so I figured — okay, this is the moment to actually do something about it.
With autumn coming, I finally got around to the hairstyle change I'd been putting off, and headed to a Jamwon-dong hair salon, Abidasun Salon.

Where is Abidasun Salon Jamwon, and where do you park?
Abidasun Salon, this Jamwon-dong hair salon, sits just a minute's walk from Jamwon Station Exit 1 — super station-adjacent, so getting there on foot or by public transit is easy. For parking, you can use the underground levels B2 or B3 of Maple Zai Plaza, and if you give them your license plate number they'll register you for free parking, so no parking stress even if you drive there :>

At Abidasun Salon, even the same named service — cut, cloud perm, hippie perm, layered perm — isn't applied the same way to everyone; it's customized based on each person's face shape and hair condition!

What is the salon like? A private space with two designers
Inside, it's a clean, modern interior mostly in white tones, with the treatment area, shampoo area and waiting area separated for smooth flow. One side opens up with a full window, so it never feels cramped, and with the soft lighting the whole space felt comfortable the entire time I was there.
Unlike factory-style salons packed with lots of designers, this one is run by just two hair designers, so it never feels crowded — a relaxed atmosphere!

🪑 Waiting area — a comfortable spot to sit before and after your service

🪑 Treatment area — where cuts, perms, color and other services happen

Premium heat perm (240,0) Extra length (30,0)

A perm over two hours: drinks and snacks while you wait
Perm services naturally take more than 2 hours, but they set you up with a drink, so you just sip away and before you know it, it's done :>

There was coffee, orange juice, green tea and black tea — but for me it was iced americano only!

Coffee with a gentle hazelnut aroma and some snacks, yum ~ (this place genuinely makes great coffee.. you have to try it..)
Why I chose the premium heat perm for damaged hair
I've always had a lot of hair concerns. My hair was limp and lacked volume at the ends, which made the whole thing look flatter overall, and after repeated color and perm services, the ends had gotten pretty damaged.

Because of the damage, my hair barely combed through, and even after a long, painstaking perm, the curl would drop out fast, making it hard to keep the style I wanted. So this time I decided to combine a cut — for a full mood change — with a premium heat perm that could naturally soften my round face shape.
Not all perms are treated the same here — they carefully check face shape, hair volume, damage level and more, fully factor in what you want, then match the style to your hair condition and face shape. That's this salon's biggest edge!!
The shampoo step
🧴 Before the perm, a shampoo. They used a shampoo with good ingredients and gave a refreshing massage — such a satisfying, clean-feeling shampoo step :D
The cut at Abidasun Salon Jamwon was different from the start
Usually when I get a cut, they just trim it roughly and that's it, but Abidasun Salon Jamwon's cut was different right from the start? First cut on wet hair, then a second cut!!
Even mid-cut, they kept checking if the length felt right, and I could genuinely feel how carefully they handled my hair, strand by strand, like it was their own.
Turns out this is a cut-focused salon. It's not just about trimming length — they look at the overall shape of the head, weight distribution, movement, and overall balance to build a style that suits you.

It made me realize that the cut alone could change the whole mood and impression of your look. Not just trimming length, but checking the overall balance so carefully — even with just the cut, my hair already looked so much cleaner and prettier!
How the heat perm built root volume, step by step

If you're someone whose hair looks like it's drooping too much because there's no volume at the crown... that's me...
During the perm, they also paid attention to my exact concern — root volume — not just adding curl everywhere, but naturally building volume at the crown, and adjusting curl strength and placement based on my face shape and hair condition, which was even better!
My hair is weak and sensitive, so I worried my scalp might react badly, but they used a mild solution and added plenty of nutrients throughout, so even someone with sensitive hair like me could get through it comfortably without much irritation :>

At other salons, it's often not the same designer the whole way through — staff and designers alternate, which used to bother me a bit — but at Abidasun Salon Jamwon, my assigned designer handled everything start to finish, so I felt much more carefully looked after throughout the whole process.

They also kept checking whether it was too hot during the perm and asked carefully if anything felt uncomfortable, which made the whole thing feel even more relaxed.
Before and after: curls that are easier to style
Usually right after a perm it looks pretty, but hair damage often makes it tangle or hard to manage later — this time there was so little damage that it was way easier to take care of!

My hair used to be frizzy and tangle easily, but after the perm, it's calmer and the curl comes out naturally, so styling is much easier — I don't even need a curling iron in the morning, just a quick touch-up and the style falls into place nicely. So satisfying..!

Who is this Jamwon-dong hair salon best for?
I was treated by Designer Hayeon, who checked my hair condition carefully and paid attention to every detail to match the style I wanted. If you'd rather have a relaxed consultation and find a style that suits you than deal with a busy, chaotic vibe, I'd recommend booking with Designer Hayeon! If you've been stressing over a perm like I was, go ahead and book a visit :>
