Mangwon-dong Italian restaurant, 11-plate tasting menu with tea: Noju
In short
Noju is an Italian fine-dining restaurant on the second floor of a building in a Mangwon-dong alley in Mapo, Seoul. Booking a bar table through Catch Table, the writer ate the 89,000-won Noju signature dinner course of 11 plates alongside OH, a non-alcoholic sparkling tea priced at 15,000 won. Fish, seafood, pasta, meat and dessert were evenly spread across the course, making it strong value for the price, and Noju's signature gnocchi was the most memorable plate.

Today I'm sharing a review of Noju, a Mangwon-dong dining spot I visited because I wanted something special to eat in the neighborhood. Fine dining usually comes with a hefty price tag, so it tends to be reserved for special occasions. But Noju turned out to be a place where you can enjoy a variety of dishes in a course menu at a relatively approachable price — I think it'd even be a good spot to try fine dining for the first time. Let me introduce it one by one :)
Where Noju is in Mangwon-dong, and booking the bar table
Noju is on the 2nd floor of a building tucked into a Mangwon-dong alley. From the entrance onward, everything feels clean and calm — definitely closer to a dining space than a regular restaurant.
We booked ahead through Catch Table, and our table was already set up when we arrived, which made things easy!
Inside, there's a bar table alongside regular tables. I booked and sat at the bar table!
The space itself isn't big, but that gave it a cozy, intimate feel instead. There was a rain forecast that day, but thankfully the weather held up, and with not many other guests, we got to enjoy a quiet meal.

I booked the 'Noju signature dinner course' and visited in the evening.

It's a fine dining course but felt like good value for money, so at first I wondered if there'd be enough food — but as dish after dish kept coming out, I ended up surprisingly full by the end!! Now let me properly introduce the Noju signature dinner course I had.

OH, the non-alcoholic sparkling tea instead of wine
🥂 Non-alcoholic sparkling tea OH. Before the food arrived, I ordered Leaflab's sparkling tea OH instead of alcohol. It's alcohol-free, caffeine-free, and vegan, listed on the menu as Non-Alcohol Tea for ₩15,000!

Its subtle aroma and sparkle went really well with the course, and it cleansed the palate nicely between dishes :) I'd recommend it even for people who don't drink — it's an easy, enjoyable option!

What comes in Noju's 11-plate signature dinner course
01. Focaccia with fig butter
The course started with focaccia. Slightly crisp outside, soft and chewy inside — it was clean and delicious even on its own.

It was tasty plain, but with the fig butter that came alongside, a sweet richness was added for a whole new flavor. The fig's subtle sweetness and the butter's nutty softness suited the focaccia well. A nice, non-intimidating way to gently wake up the palate right from the first dish ◡̈
02. Three bite-sized starters
All three came in perfect one-bite sizes, each with a different shape and color, so the plating alone looked pretty.
The beet-based bite had a strong truffle aroma, and since I love truffle, I really enjoyed it! There was also a dish with caviar on endive, and crispy arancini — each offering a different flavor and texture in one go.
The arancini especially had a ragu white sauce drizzled on top that was the real kicker..! Crisp outside, soft inside — so good 𖤐 Even these small bites felt thoughtfully made, pretty to look at and fun to eat.
03. Flatfish (gwangeo)
Thinly sliced flatfish (gwangeo) with a miso-based flavor and bujikkaeng salt. The flatfish itself was clean and mild, but the miso's umami really brought the flavor to life.

The staff explained it's best to mix the accompanying ingredients well before eating, and sure enough, the flatfish and sauce paired really nicely together.
The clean fish met a salty, umami-rich flavor, letting the fish's flavor come through cleanly.

04. John Dory
John Dory fish with a nutty, soft buttery richness, and capers and olives as accent points made the overall flavor quite rich.

The butter gave it a soft, nutty flavor, while the capers and olives cut through cleanly here and there. Salty, clean, yet full of flavor — a really tasty dish.

05. Scialatelli
Chewy scialatelli noodles with the seafood richness of squid and mussels, and anchovy pulling the umami together.

The noodles' chewy texture was great, and the seafood flavor came through strongly, so every bite was packed with umami. Coming right after the fish dishes, this seafood pasta made the course feel like it was building up nicely!

06. Ravioli
Inside the ravioli, shrimp flavor came through along with ricotta, giving the whole thing a soft, nutty taste. A subtle touch of pepper kept the flavor from feeling too heavy.

Like the scialatelli, it's also pasta, but the noodle shape and filling were different, so each had its own charm. I personally found it fun that the course served two totally different styles of pasta ◡̈

07. Salmon
Salmon with lemon butter had a soft, nutty flavor with a subtle bright citrus note!!
The salmon itself was moist and soft, and with the lemon butter, it was clean and never greasy.
08. Saltimbocca
After the fish and seafood dishes, this felt like the shift into the meat course.
Fresh tomato, the salty flavor of prosciutto wrapped around the outside, and fragrant sage combined to give the meat a pretty layered flavor!
None of the ingredients' flavors felt separate — they blended together really well, and it was delicious.

09. Noju's signature gnocchi
Potato gnocchi, pan-fried until crisp and topped with truffle.

Crispy outside, soft and chewy inside — the gnocchi's texture was really nice. The truffle aroma was strong too, and normally I'm not a fan of artificial-tasting truffle flavors. But this wasn't overpowering at all, coming through as nutty and rich instead — genuinely delicious.

The soft potato gnocchi and the truffle aroma worked so well together that I understood why it's called the signature gnocchi. Personally, this was one of the most memorable dishes I had that day 𖤐𖤐𖤐
10. Chuck flap tail (salchisal)
No gamey taste at all, just a moist, tender texture. The chuck flap tail (salchisal) had good flavor on its own, but eating it with oyster mushrooms made the meat's richness even fuller, while jalapeño cut through any greasiness.
Slicing the meat and eating it together with the mushroom and jalapeño made for a really great combination.

Meat dishes can sometimes feel heavy toward the end of a meal, but thanks to the jalapeño, I never felt overwhelmed and finished it easily 𖤐

11. Basque cheesecake
And the finale of the course was Basque cheesecake. Unlike a typical Basque cheesecake, this one had gorgonzola mixed in, giving it a distinct cheesy depth.

The dense yet soft cheesecake texture, combined with the gorgonzola's distinctive character, made for a uniquely memorable final dessert.
Is Noju's 89,000-won dinner course worth the price?
After finishing the whole course, my biggest takeaway was how solid the lineup felt for the price. For ₩89,000, I got to enjoy a total of 11 courses — focaccia, three bite-sized starters, flatfish, John Dory, scialatelli, ravioli, salmon, saltimbocca, signature gnocchi, chuck flap tail, and Basque cheesecake.
What stood out especially was how balanced the menu was across fish, seafood, pasta, meat, and dessert — never leaning too heavily on one category — so each dish felt like a fresh new experience.
If you're looking for fine dining in Mangwon-dong that lets you enjoy a wide range of course dishes without an intimidating price tag, I think Noju is worth a visit :) I was very satisfied overall and would love to come back again ♡
