Munjeong Korean BBQ after work: old-style vs flower pork belly, Minari

In short

Minari Naengsam is a frozen pork belly (naengsam) Korean BBQ restaurant with unlimited minari (water dropwort) on Beobwon-ro near Munjeong Station in Songpa, Seoul. On the way home from work, the writer and her older brother ordered 2 servings of flower pork belly, 1 serving of old-style pork belly, doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and fried rice, and especially loved sprinkling the pepper set on every table straight onto the meat. Comparing tender flower pork belly with thick, crispy old-style pork belly over a drink makes Minari Naengsam a great Munjeong-dong Korean BBQ spot.

Not long ago my boyfriend and I went to the Munjeong area for good meat and a drink, and we completely fell for one place. It's Minari Naengsam (미나리냉삼), and it has unlimited minari (water dropwort, a fragrant green)! Everyone .. take notes. Okay, let's start!

I already love the crispy, nutty taste of naengsam (frozen pork belly), and at Minari Naengsam everything was perfect, from the pretty flower-cut pork belly to the old-style pork belly to the fragrant minari, so the drinks just kept going down. It was even fun sprinkling pepper on the meat myself, so I was in a great mood the whole meal. Here comes my honest review!

Retro interior of Minari Naengsam

Minari Naengsam is near Munjeong Station, so it's really easy to stop by after work or to meet friends. The location is easy to find, and the exterior has a retro yet tidy BBQ-restaurant feel! We went right at closing time, and since it's a holy ground for office workers, it was sooo crowded 🤤

The side dishes were amazing from the start! So delicious, and I think the many kinds of sauces are one of Minari Naengsam's strengths.

Flower pork belly for 2 with unlimited minari

Two servings of flower pork belly cost ₩15,900. We ordered 2 servings of the flower pork belly, which looked exciting from the start, plus 1 serving of the familiar, tasty old-style pork belly. The meat comes neatly stacked on a plate, and the freshness and color were incredible!

They grill the meat on a heated grill with fresh minari and kimchi, and the combination of the gently spreading pork fat aroma and the minari scent was seriously amazing. And by the way, unlimited minari ❤️❤️❤️👉👈 is the best.

Eating naengsam after so long made me go totally wild~

What does table pepper do for frozen pork belly?

The real kicker at Minari Naengsam is the pepper set out on every table! Sprinkling it right onto the naengsam completely changed the flavor. The pepper itself has a classy aroma that really brings out the meat's nuttiness and savory depth, and it was so good. My boyfriend said sprinkling pepper was a stroke of genius and kept shaking it on. Hahaha

Adding doenjang stew for ₩5,900

The doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) at Minari Naengsam is ₩5,900!! You can't eat meat without a drink, right? Along with a cold drink, we added a hearty doenjang stew.

Flower vs old-style pork belly: how thick is each?

The old-style pork belly is a bit thicker than the flower pork belly, so the feel is different. (Personally, I liked the old-style one more, since it feels more like real naengsam.) The flower pork belly was as pretty and round as it looked, with a tender, soft texture when chewed, while the old-style one was crispy with a burst of nuttiness, so enjoying each one's different charm was a lot of fun.

Fried rice to finish an after-work Korean BBQ night

And finally, fried rice!! It was delicious.. 🩷 I wrapped a well-cooked piece of flower pork belly with minari grilled golden in the fat, popped it into my mouth, and right away downed a cold drink, cheers~ and all the stress and fatigue from the day just melted away!

Truly a Munjeong naengsam hot spot, there's no better cheat code for drinking food. Munjeong naengsam hot spot, confirmed 🌀 I had so much stress that day~ but it's all gone.
