Anguk Station weekend lunch: yeolmu makguksu and bossam at Goshine
In short
Goshine Donghae Makguksu Jongno branch is a hanok-style Korean restaurant in Jongno, Seoul, about a 4-minute walk from Anguk Station (Line 3) and close to Insa-dong's Ssamziegil. On a weekend lunch visit with a reservation, the table ordered a medium kkamakjang suyuk (boiled pork, 29,000 won) plus mul makguksu and yeolmu makguksu at 10,000 won each, for a total of 53,000 won. The fish-based broth and the buckwheat noodles pressed fresh to order make Goshine Donghae an easy recommendation near Anguk Station.

Anguk Station Korean food review: a weekend lunch visit to Goshine Donghae Makguksu Jongno branch, coming right up.

Especially recommended for: ① anyone planning to visit Ssamziegil in Insa-dong ② anyone looking for a great buckwheat noodle spot

Walking to Goshine Donghae from Anguk Station, and where to park
Goshine Donghae Makguksu Jongno branch is on Insadong 12-gil, about 4 minutes' walk from Anguk Station (Line 3). Parking was difficult given the neighborhood, so I'd recommend using a nearby paid parking lot.

Hanok interior and private rooms: what is the seating like?
Goshine Donghae Makguksu Jongno branch has everything from a hall with soft built-in sofas to cozy, private rooms, so you can pick a spot depending on who you're with. The hanok interior is so nice I'd love to bring a foreign friend here next time they visit Korea!

Weekend lunch reservation and ordering by kiosk
I visited after making a reservation and got seated right away with no wait. There's a kiosk at every table, which made ordering easy. *You can also order via QR code at your seat.

The Gangwon-do gift corner and the self-serve banchan bar
Goshine Donghae Makguksu apparently started out in Gangwon-do. Maybe that's why there's a separate gift corner featuring Gangwon-do specialties — domestic organic perilla oil cold-pressed by a certified master, wildflower honey, Bongpyeong buckwheat makguksu noodles, and more.

Extra banchan (side dishes) were conveniently available from a self-serve bar, with pickled onions, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) and more.
What we ordered at Goshine Donghae and what it cost
Here's what I ordered:
- Medium gaemakjang bossam (boiled pork) — ₩29,000
- Mul makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) — ₩10,000
- Yeolmu makguksu (with young radish kimchi) — ₩10,000
- Cider (Korean soda) — ₩2,000
- Total — ₩53,000

Medium kkamakjang suyuk (boiled pork), 29,000 won
Boiled with 11 ingredients until soft, this gaemakjang bossam was tender through and through. It came with sides perfect for wrapping and enjoying alongside the pork — seasoned pollock, yeolmu kimchi, perilla leaves, lettuce, chili peppers, ssamjang (dipping sauce), and garlic.

Yeolmu makguksu and mul makguksu, 10,000 won each
Yeolmu makguksu. Instead of dongchimi (radish water kimchi), both the mul makguksu and yeolmu makguksu used a fish-based broth, which made them wonderfully refreshing. The noodles themselves were extremely tender, likely because they're cut fresh right after ordering.
Final verdict on Goshine Donghae Makguksu
- Recommended if you're looking for a great buckwheat makguksu spot near Anguk Station
- Food comes out fast
