Hoehyeon Station peanut bread shop: 80-piece box for beer, Daesin
In short
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch is a peanut bread and egg bread shop on Namdaemunsijang 2-ga-gil, near Hoehyeon Station Exit 5 in Jung-gu, Seoul. On the way to a dinner meetup near Namdaemun, the writer picked up an 80-piece box of peanut bread for ₩10,000. The whole roasted peanuts inside were so nutty that the writer and a friend could not stop eating while sharing it. For a Namdaemun Market snack to share or something to go with beer, the Daesin Ttangkong-ppang 80-piece box is a generous, good-value pick.

Stopping by Daesin Namdaemun Market branch on the way to dinner
I had a dinner meeting near Namdaemun, so I took the chance to drop by Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch (대신땅콩빵 남대문시장점). It keeps popping up in my feed lately. Namdaemun Market is really hot right now, haha.
But friends, do you remember going to Namdaemun Market when our kids were little? haha Every time the seasons changed we'd go buy kids' clothes, bags and bags in both hands! We'd come out loaded with clothes, so proud of how cheaply we'd shopped. Baby clothes come in so many small, cute designs that just browsing was fun.
Now the kids have grown up, and I don't go to Namdaemun as often as I used to. But Namdaemun is hot again, and peanut bread kept showing up on social media, so I got curious. I was right nearby, so there was no resisting, haha. Today I'll share a Namdaemun Market snack I bought myself: Daesin peanut bread.
Where is Daesin Namdaemun Market branch, and what are the hours?
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch is at 7 Namdaemunsijang 2-ga-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul (floors 1–2). It is open Monday to Saturday, 10:00–19:00, with last order at 18:30, and closed on Sundays.

It's about 189 m from Hoehyeon Station Exit 5, so it's easy to drop in while wandering around Namdaemun Market.

It's been showing up a lot in Namdaemun snack recommendations lately, so my expectations were up!! Daesin advertises "the only in-house dough in Korea," and I liked that they make the dough right in the shop.

With snacks like this, if a nutty smell drifts by, your feet just stop, haha. If you're looking for Namdaemun Market street food, put peanut bread on your market route.

What's on the Daesin menu and how much is it?
Daesin's peanut bread runs from 20 pieces for ₩3,000 up to an 80-piece box for ₩10,000, and they also sell egg bread, roasted peanuts, peanut butter and peanut smoothies. I came thinking only of peanut bread, but the menu had egg bread too. You can't skip egg bread (gyeran-ppang) when it comes to market snacks, haha.

On the menu board, peanut bread came in everything from small amounts to boxed takeout. It also says they'll bake it without peanuts, so people who want to skip the peanuts can order too.
- Peanut bread: 20 pcs ₩3,000 / 45 pcs ₩6,000 / 80-piece box ₩10,000
- Egg bread: 1 pc ₩2,000 / 3 pcs ₩5,500 / 7 pcs ₩12,000
- Roasted peanuts: 500 g ₩5,000 / 1 kg ₩10,000
- Peanut butter: Creamy 150 g ₩4,000 / Creamy 400 g ₩10,000 / Crunchy 400 g ₩12,000
- Peanut smoothie: ₩2,500

They sell roasted peanuts separately too.

It's not just peanut bread: there are roasted peanuts, peanut butter, and even a peanut smoothie. I was especially curious what the smoothie tastes like, haha. I'd like to try it next time.

Is the 80-piece box enough to share?
I ordered the 80-piece box of peanut bread (₩10,000) without a second thought. There were 20- and 45-piece options too, but I planned to share with a friend, so I went generous.

A heap of little peanut breads, and that nutty smell too. I couldn't wait to eat, haha.
Watching them pack the bread, it looked like they counted by hand, one by one. They have to get exactly 80, so it felt very careful! Packing dozens, not just one or two, must keep their hands busy, haha.

Seeing it fill up like that, I was glad I'd ordered the box. You can reheat it in a microwave or air fryer, and I hear it's also good frozen and eaten as icy peanut bread.

If you want a Namdaemun Market snack for several people to share, a boxed pack like this is so good~

How does Daesin's peanut bread taste?
As the name says, there are peanuts inside the bread, and I liked that whole roasted peanuts bring out a nutty flavor as you chew. That was exactly my first bite, finally.

It's small, so it's easy to eat in one bite, and the nutty taste made me reach for another and another, haha. I think it'd be great when you get peckish browsing the market. And it's perfect as a snack with beer, don't you think? haha

Can you see how many peanuts are inside? haha My friend kept saying it was delicious and kept eating too, haha. Hands just won't stop~~~~
From buying kids' clothes at Namdaemun to buying snacks
I used to come to Namdaemun to buy kids' clothes, and now I come for snacks! Time passes, and so do the reasons for coming to Namdaemun. Friends, shall we go on a snack tour of Namdaemun next time? haha
