Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station branch conveyor-belt sushi

This Saturday, I got my hair done for a little mood boost, and somehow it was already well past 3 p.m. ㅠㅠ I’d used up all my energy at the salon and was starving, but I heard there was a great Japanese restaurant near Seolleung for eating alone, so I dashed over for a late lunch!

What are the atmosphere and seating like?

Among sushi spots near Seolleung Station, this one is seriously easy to get to—it’s just a short walk from the station, so it was super easy to find!! I went at the awkward hour of 3 p.m. and got seated immediately without waiting, lucky me ✨

The whole interior is done in white tones, so it felt clean, and I loved how the natural light poured in.

There’s a mix of counter seating where you can watch the sushi being made and comfy four-person tables. It’s easy to eat alone without feeling self-conscious, like I did, and I also saw plenty of office workers and couples.

Japanese restaurants around Seolleung with private rooms are nice too, but sometimes this lively conveyor-belt sushi atmosphere is just the real deal 😭

How did the flounder and wagyu sushi taste?

Danmuji, wasabi, and soy sauce place setting

When you sit down, danmuji (pickled yellow radish), wasabi, and soy sauce are neatly set out, so you can take as much as you need. A staff member immediately brought over hot soup; one sip settled my stomach and got my appetite going. It was seasoned just right, and sipping it between sushi bites felt like it refreshed my whole mouth—so good 🤍

A plate of flounder sushi

The first piece I picked up, the flounder sushi, was freshness itself! The fish was sliced long, giving it a lovely chewy bite, and as you’d expect from a great Seolleung sushi spot, the rice portion was just right too ㅠㅠ

Long-sliced flounder sushi

There wasn’t even a hint of fishiness, and the springy texture really clung to my palate. Starting with fresh fish for the first bite was definitely the right call.

Next up was the wagyu sushi, which is my absolute fave haha. The lightly flame-kissed beef was tender, then the juices burst out and worked so well with the sweet sauce. So, so good.

Flame-kissed wagyu sushi

This is absolutely a flavor kids would love too, and the beef quality was way better than I expected. I wanted another plate 👍

The fish steak sushi was piled with sauce, so the flavor was no joke, and it was unbelievably tender.

And next—aged-kimchi fresh-fish sushi! The bright tang of the crisp aged kimchi met the savory fish and cleared up any richness that might have built up in my mouth.

Finally, the shrimp-tempura roll had such a satisfying crunch that every bite was moving 😭 You know you shouldn’t only look at what’s on the conveyor belt at a sushi place, right?! Ask the chef for freshly fried items and you’ll get that perfect crispy-outside, tender-inside texture, so please do try it. The shrimp-tempura roll is especially delicious while it’s hot 🤍

If you want a good-value sushi lunch near Seolleung Station, the lunch sets are so well put together that I definitely recommend those!!!

Final thoughts on a solo sushi spot with no break time

The fact that there’s no break time is such a huge plus—you can drop in whenever hunger strikes at an awkward hour. The atmosphere is so comfortable and clean for eating alone, so this would be perfect for anyone looking for great sushi near Seolleung Station! The overall ingredient quality was solid, the prices felt reasonable, and it’s a lovely place for a filling meal without feeling burdened ☺️
