Seongsu taco restaurant: salsa gyoza and truffle wagyu taco, Morimoly

In short

Morimoly (모리몰리) is a taco restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, near Seoulsup Station, that makes its tacos with fried gimbugak (crispy seaweed chips) as the shell. The truffle wagyu taco came packed all the way to the edges, fries included, and the salsa gyoza (dumplings) had a tangy sauce; both were generous and well made. Morimoly's prices felt steep at first but the quality justified them, and the traditional-style 1.5th floor and individually wrapped disposable gloves made it a satisfying visit.

When I first saw the menu, the prices felt a little steep, but once the food arrived, they made sense. The gimbugak is packed full of filling, hearty enough to be a proper meal. Having tried it, I didn't feel the money was wasted at all. Great quality~!

There are light sides too, and here are the drinks.

What is the atmosphere on Morimoly's 1.5th and 2nd floors?

While you wait at Morimoly, you can look around the upstairs. Since I heard there was a 2nd floor too, I went up to see! On the way up, you can feel the owner's taste in the space, as if they thought about the quality of the food and the inside of the shop too!

The 1.5th floor, just a short climb up the stairs, was a cozy spot where you can fully feel traditional Korean charm in the middle of the city. It felt like stepping into a secret hideout. Carrying up good food and calmly savoring Korea's own style and mood, I think it's a charming space.

How do the truffle wagyu taco taste and portion size compare?

Morimoly's truffle wagyu taco came stuffed all the way with fries, and the portion was really generous. After a short wait, the taco arrived! Just looking at the outside, it looked like a tremendous amount of food,,

Morimoly truffle wagyu taco and salsa gyoza

I ordered the truffle wagyu taco with the salsa gyoza, and the portions were so generous I left happily full. With fries packed inside the taco, the flavor and texture were much richer. Right up until I arrived, I was torn between a burger and tacos, and I'm really glad I came here. The time I spent agonizing was not wasted, it was a perfect combination and taste👍🏻

Is the salsa gyoza worth ordering as a side?

Morimoly's salsa gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) was a best-of-the-menu item, as satisfying as the taco. The tangy sauce and fresh vegetables worked together, so it was clean and not greasy.

I'm picky about how the dumpling wrapper and filling go together, and I've often been disappointed by store-bought dumplings or ones from restaurants, but the quality here is clearly different. It's not a cheap taste, it's a rich, substantial one where filling and wrapper blend well, a polished dish that anyone would like.

Individually wrapped disposable gloves: a thoughtful touch

Morimoly keeps the disposable gloves you need for eating tacos neatly individually wrapped. I could feel the owners' careful consideration all around the shop, which made the visit even more memorable. Even the disposable gloves that are a must for eating tacos aren't just handed out; I was impressed by the sense of preparing them neatly wrapped.

Honestly, a service like this is a tiny difference, but as a customer it feels like being treated really well. Beyond the taste, seeing them take such care with hygiene and details moved me deeply. I'm rooting for them to thrive:)

Can you choose cilantro or no cilantro on Morimoly's tacos?

At Morimoly you can choose tacos with or without cilantro, to your taste. The left one is with cilantro, the right one without. I really love cilantro, and the tacos here pair fantastically with it, so I was amazed the whole time I ate.

The distinctive aroma of cilantro really brings out the taco's flavor, enough to hit the spot for cilantro lovers. I also really liked that they took care to let you choose according to your taste.

How is a gimbugak taco different from a regular taco?

Morimoly's gimbugak taco tastes cleaner and healthier than a regular taco. If ordinary tacos are heavy and intense, the tacos here are clean and healthy yet full of flavor.

With rice, wagyu and vegetables nicely combined on a gimbugak base, it's a taste anyone who likes rice would enjoy. Actually, even if you're not a rice lover, I think everyone will like it! It's both unusual and familiar, and I'm really very satisfied~!
