Samsong Station BBQ for three with galmaegisal add-on: Neopttakjip

A while back I went to Samsong for dinner with just my mom, dad, and me! Since it was a dinner with my parents, we decided to go for meat, and this time we picked Neopttakjip Samsong Branch! (The raw ribs set is a must-try — apparently it's famous for its specialty cuts.)

I was looking for a BBQ place near Samsong Station and ended up here — the staff were friendly and the restaurant was spacious, great for a meal with family haha. There's also a separate private room, so it looked like a good spot for friend gatherings, family get-togethers, or work dinners too!

It's a fairly short walk from Samsong Station Exit 3, so it's easy to reach by public transit too, but we drove!

Can you spot the two cars on the right in this photo? There are two parking spots right next to the restaurant, and there's also a basement parking lot in the same building behind there, though it's reserved parking, so a security guard directed us :)

Inside Neopttakjip: a wide hall and a separate private room

The moment we walked in, I was happy to find the place bigger than I expected. BBQ restaurants can sometimes feel cramped with tables packed together or crowds everywhere, but here there was plenty of space, so we could sit and eat comfortably with my parents.

There's also a private room off to one side, which seems great for family gatherings or group visits with friends. It worked well for us bringing our parents along, and it also looked like a solid choice for anyone looking for a place to eat BBQ with a bigger group :)

Seeing all the celebrity autographs on the wall, I understood right away why this place comes up whenever people mention Samsong Station BBQ spots.

And here's something I personally loved! Maybe because of the big windows, the inside didn't feel stuffy at all, and the ventilation seemed really good. Usually after eating at a BBQ place, your clothes are soaked in the smell of grilled meat, but that day there was barely any of that, which I loved lol. Even my parents said they were surprised how little the place smelled, considering it's a BBQ restaurant haha.

The interior also has a retro vibe! It was so cute I had to take pictures lol.

The menu at Neopttakjip and what three of us ordered

Here's what we ordered:

• Sancheong black pork raw ribs (400g) + grilled vegetables set for 2, ₩41,000
• Galmaegisal (170g), 1 serving, ₩16,000
• Perilla oil noodles, ₩7,000
• Total ₩64,000

That's what the three of us ordered! The portion of meat was bigger than I expected, and since the cuts were thick overall, we ended up really full by the end. All three of us left completely stuffed haha.

Sancheong black pork raw ribs (400g) + grilled vegetables, set for two, 41,000 won

First up, the raw ribs set for two! When it came out, I liked how thick the cuts were. Meat always looks more appetizing when it's sliced nice and thick like this instead of thin, right? Haha.

They grilled it on the grill until nicely browned. Watching it sizzle away already made me hungry lol. Once it was cooked through, the meat itself tasted great, and best of all, the portion was generous.

Even with the three of us eating, we never felt like there wasn't enough — we ate until we were full! My parents also said the meat was thick and delicious, which made me kind of proud haha. The meat itself was well-seasoned, and there were plenty of sauces to choose from depending on your taste!

Galmaegisal (pork skirt meat), one serving, 16,000 won

We also added galmaegisal on top! I thought just the raw ribs might feel a bit lacking, so we ordered a serving of galmaegisal too. It has a chewy texture, so anyone who likes these specialty cuts would probably enjoy it.

It had a completely different texture from the raw ribs, so I was glad we ordered another type of meat. With the three of us grilling different cuts, it was fun mixing things up, and mealtime felt even more enjoyable. By the way, my dad's pick was the galmaegisal, while my mom and I both preferred the raw ribs! Both were incredibly delicious :)

Generous side dishes at Neopttakjip, plus grilled rice cake and sausage

Neopttakjip also served quite a lot of standard side dishes. Instead of just the meat arriving alone, there was a good variety of banchan (side dishes) to pair with it, so it was easy to mix and match based on what we liked.

Most of all, the side dishes were well-seasoned overall, so they tasted good even on their own. Eating one alongside the meat kept things from feeling greasy, and I kept reaching for more haha.

The rice cake and sausage that came out with the meat were also grilled on the pan, and that turned out to be a highlight too lol. While the meat was cooking, we started grilling the rice cake and sausage first, and they were surprisingly delicious, so the three of us kept picking away at them. These little grilled extras are always a fun part of going to a BBQ place haha.

There's also a well-stocked self-serve bar so you can freely grab more whenever you run low.

Perilla oil buckwheat noodles, 7,000 won: how do they pair with the pork?

Since I thought only eating meat might be a bit much, we also ordered the perilla oil noodles that the place is known for. Plenty of other tables seemed to be ordering it too. The perilla oil noodles have a nutty flavor that pairs really well with the meat.

A bite of meat, then a bite of noodles — it's the kind of combo you can't stop eating haha. Highly recommend...!!!!! The three of us finished off both the meat and noodles until we were completely full :)

Visiting with my mom, dad, and me, the whole meal felt comfortable overall, which I really appreciated. The staff were friendly, the restaurant itself was spacious so it never felt cramped, and having a separate room made it seem like a good option for family gatherings or friend meetups too.

Neopttakjip Samsong Branch is a good spot in Samsong for work dinners or family gatherings. What I especially liked, personally, is that even though it's a BBQ restaurant, the big windows and good ventilation meant our clothes didn't end up smelling much after the meal. Whether it's a work dinner or a meal out with your parents, taste matters but this kind of detail sneaks up on you too! I don't know if they planned for that, but I really appreciated it.

The portions were also generous and thick, so the three of us never felt like we didn't have enough. Between the raw ribs, the galmaegisal, and finishing with perilla oil noodles, it made for a solid, filling dinner. The grilled rice cake and sausage were especially memorable, tastier than I expected lol (my mom's favorite part!).
