Uijeongbu café for a first postpartum outing, plain Basque: Forerest
In short
Forerest is a large Basque cheesecake café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, with parking for about 50 cars. On her first café outing after giving birth, the writer explored Forerest's four rooms in a converted house and ordered a decaf iced americano with chocolate and plain Basque cheesecakes. Surprisingly, the plain Basque cheesecake tasted better. With high chairs and plenty of parking, Forerest is an easy café to visit with a baby.

A café to visit with a baby in Uijeongbu: Forerest
Forerest is a large café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, and I went after hearing that it has good parking and is great with babies. Lots of atmospheric cafés are no-kids zones or are in spots that are hard to reach with a baby, so I hadn't been to a single café since giving birth.
Is parking easy at Forerest?
Parking at Forerest fits about 50 cars. Right as you enter there's a big open lot where you can park, and there's another parking lot further inside.

Even though I went on a weekend, parking was really roomy, so you can come without worrying about it.
Outdoor tables, and bringing pets and strollers

After being in cafés packed in among dense city buildings, coming somewhere this leafy felt like a real change of mood. Forerest allows pets, and a dog would love it here, right? It's also good with a baby, but the ground is a bit hard to push a stroller over, so I'd recommend a baby carrier.

Forerest has both indoor and outdoor tables. It was so hot that a heat wave advisory had been issued, so nobody was at the outdoor tables, but I bet they're popular when the weather is nice.

There are lots of seats, so even a group would be fine. I think people who come with their dogs will prefer sitting outside.
Inside Forerest: 4 rooms that feel like a converted house

Forerest felt like a converted family home (gajeong-jip). The entrance is already pretty, so lots of people take photos there. There's a big mirror at the entrance, so I took one too, haha.
The ceilings are high enough to make your chest feel open, and the big windows frame green trees, so you immediately feel the upside of a large café.

There are tables for 2, tables for 4 and group tables too, so couples and families are all covered. This was the biggest space.
Every room at Forerest has its own mood
What made me feel it was a converted house is that there are 4 more rooms. Each one has a different feel, so it's fun to wander through them. I avoided the areas with customers while taking photos, so sadly I can't show you each room in full. The first is the room near the entrance, where you can look out at the green view past a bar table.

The room furthest inside has a modern feel. The floor is tile, the chairs and tables feel a little cool, and the brightly colored paintings and green chairs stood out to me.

The third room has the full-length mirror no atmospheric café can do without, plus wooden tables, chairs and lighting that build up the mood.

The fourth and last room I'll show you has three 4-person tables and one large table. It was the quietest, so I stayed in this one, and the green trees outside the window were so pretty.

There are 2 restrooms and quite a few high chairs. It's a great Uijeongbu café for babies, so parents worn out from childcare, go get some fresh air!
Forerest menu: 5 Basque cheesecakes

Forerest specializes in Basque cheesecake. There are no other desserts, only Basque cheesecake, which they say is made in-house and aged for 16 hours. There are 5 flavors: plain, chocolate, black sesame, matcha and Earl Grey.
The coffee is a blend of 4 beans, and they say the latte is their recommended coffee. The teas are carefully selected organic products, so it feels like they've put care not just into the café's looks but into both drinks and desserts.
First café after giving birth: one dessert each

It had been so long since I'd been to a café after giving birth that, feeling excited, I decided we'd each get our own dessert.

What we ordered: a decaf iced americano, an iced choco latte, a Basque cheesecake and a chocolate Basque cheesecake.

Decaf iced americano and iced choco latte
I wanted to taste the blended beans, but we visited late, so I ordered decaf. I had a prejudice that decaf doesn't taste good, but it had a nutty bean aroma and I enjoyed it. And an americano is the best match for cheesecake anyway.

My companion ordered the choco latte. A sweet choco latte that makes you forget the day's tiredness: cold, sweet and tasty.

How does the chocolate Basque cheesecake taste?
I've eaten plenty of Basque cheesecake so far, but never a chocolate one. So I picked chocolate, beating out the tough competition of black sesame, matcha and Earl Grey.

I cut off a dense, fudgy bite, leaving fork marks, and the chocolate aroma spread the moment it hit my mouth. You can taste cheesecake's typical tanginess, and it actually goes well with the chocolate! It isn't overly sweet, so I never got tired of it and polished off the whole thing.

Why the plain Basque cheesecake was even better
Next is the plain Basque cheesecake. There are lots of flavors, but you've got to try the original first!

Just as dense and fudgy, and full of rich cheesecake cheese flavor! Honestly, I'd eaten the chocolate first and assumed it would be better, but is this the power of the original? The plain Basque cheesecake is simply better. I surprised myself a little, haha. It's a flavor I want to eat again next time.
Forerest is a baby-friendly café in Uijeongbu with good parking and a spacious interior. It was just right for an outing!
