Many people drive around Munmak, so location matters. This restaurant is well placed for a meal in the Munmak area, so it should also suit anyone looking for food near Munmak IC. It's handy during a Wonju trip or a day out nearby, and a fine meal stop on the way back from Oak Valley or the Sogeumsan Suspension Bridge.

How does the arrowroot naengmyeon taste?

The arrowroot naengmyeon has chewy noodles and a cold broth that cleans up your mouth. With naengmyeon in the very name of the restaurant, it's a must-order. Arrowroot noodles are chewier than ordinary naengmyeon and have a distinctive nutty flavor, and people who like them really like them.

The noodles were chewy and the cold broth refreshed my mouth, so it works as a meal on its own and also alongside the jjukkumi. When I was eating the spicy jjukkumi and then took a bite of naengmyeon, the heat eased a little, and the combination worked quite well.

Munmak jjukkumi: how spicy and how does it taste?

The jjukkumi is spicy yet full of savory depth, the kind that goes well with rice. I thought only the naengmyeon would be good, but the jjukkumi was really appealing too. Jjukkumi needs both spice and savoriness, and this one suits eating with rice, so it made a hearty meal.

Spicy jjukkumi is the kind of dish that pulls you in even when you have no appetite, right? The chewy octopus and the spicy sauce went together so well that the rice just disappeared.

They also give you muk-bap (acorn jelly rice bowl), and I enjoyed it a lot. The spice isn't just aggressive; it's the kind that keeps you reaching for more, which I liked even more. If you're deciding on lunch or dinner in Munmak, I'd recommend Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi as a Munmak jjukkumi spot.
