Yeonnam-dong pork cutlet restaurant date set: Katsu Monster
In short
Katsu Monster Yeonnam Main Branch is a Japanese pork cutlet restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. We shared a 2-person set with premium loin katsu, Mix B tenderloin and cheese katsu, and cold soba for 40,000 won, and it was almost too filling even as our first meal. Verdict: a hearty choice for a date or a solo meal in Yeonnam-dong.

A hearty pork cutlet date in Yeonnam-dong
Today’s story is about Katsu Monster, a great pork cutlet spot for a date in Yeonnam-dong! True to its name, the cutlets come out huge and generous, so I definitely recommend it for a satisfying meal. It’s also close to Hongik Univ. Station on Line 2, so it’s easy to walk to! Eat your fill, then take a lap around the Yeonnam-dong alleys—it’s the best date course, haha.

Close to Hongik Univ. Station: location and hours
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, Katsu Monster is open from 10:30 AM to 9 PM, with last orders at 8:30 PM. From Friday through Tuesday, it is open from 10:30 AM to 11 PM, with last orders at 10:30 PM. It is tucked into a Yeonnam-dong alley, a three-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station.
I recommend using a nearby paid parking lot for parking.

Bar seating that works for dates and solo meals
The interior is clean and neatly designed. If you’re looking for somewhere nice for a date in Yeonnam-dong, visit Katsu Monster! We took seats at the bar. Eating side by side, hehe.
There were lots of people dining alone, too! It’s also great for a solo meal around Hongdae and Yeonnam. Personally, places with bar seating make solo dining the easiest level, haha. The menu is neatly put together and really nice, too.

Our 2-person set: menu and prices
Here’s the menu. There are lots of options, from sets for one or two people to individual dishes, noodles, rice bowls, and sides!
- 2-person set ₩35,000
- Premium loin katsu upgrade +₩2,000
- Mix B tenderloin and cheese upgrade +₩3,000
- Cold soba
- Total ₩40,000

Mix B with tenderloin and cheese
This is the Mix B tenderloin and cheese dish my boyfriend ordered. It has a whole piece of soft, nutty mozzarella inside! Even though it’s cheese katsu, there was definitely not a skimpy amount of meat. It also has a good portion of sirloin cap, haha. (Was the lime okay?) The tenderloin was mild and clean-tasting, making it easy to eat.

A generous premium loin katsu with pork neck
This is the premium loin katsu I ordered. It comes with pork neck attached, so you can really taste the meatiness, and it’s tender and delicious. And just like the restaurant’s name, the portions are seriously huge and generous!
Honestly, when I go out for pork cutlet sometimes, I’m disappointed because the portion is small. At Katsu Monster in Yeonnam, we came for our very first meal when we were incredibly hungry, but I got so full that I couldn’t finish my premium loin katsu and handed it to my boyfriend ㅠㅠ haha. I was full after just two pieces >.<

Cold soba, a great accompaniment
This is the cold soba we chose among the noodle dishes included in the set. There were so many tasty-looking choices—udon, cold udon, spicy udon, and more—that it was hard to decide, but we picked cold soba because it goes so well alongside the cutlets! Haha. The cold soba is practically a full single serving, too.

Cabbage salad, gangjeong (sweet crispy bite), kimchi, rice, doenjang-guk (soybean paste soup), and cold soba, too! It’s such a neatly presented full spread at Katsu Monster, a pork cutlet restaurant that’s great for dates in Yeonnam-dong.

One thick, crispy piece of pork cutlet
Each piece was so big that it felt heavy when I held one up with chopsticks for a photo, haha. Amazing. They’re thick with a lovely chew; crisp outside, moist and tender inside! It tastes very refined.

I tried a piece each of the dish my boyfriend ordered, too, haha. The cheese katsu was nutty and deeply flavorful, and the tenderloin was mild and clean-tasting~! We were so hungry, but we had such a substantial, delicious meal!
We ate a generous, satisfying meal and then managed to get through doing the DIY interior work at the house we’re moving into, haha. It was tiring, but our full stomachs helped us hang in there, heh. If you’re looking for a pork cutlet restaurant for a date in Yeonnam-dong or somewhere to eat alone near Hongdae, visit Katsu Monster!!
