Pizza Never Sleeps Songridan-gil Branch: my third visit

Pizza Never Sleeps Songridan-gil Branch (피자네버슬립스 송리단길점) is a pizzeria in a basement near Songpanaru Station, and this was my third visit. Funnily enough, the weather is gloomy every time I go, haha. Maybe it just suits a basement?

I'm used to it by now, so I head down to the basement level on autopilot.

Is there a wait at Pizza Never Sleeps? When to go

Pizza Never Sleeps is a favorite near Songpanaru Station, so a wait on weekends is a given. But I can't stand waiting! I'm one of those people who times a hot spot for the quietest weekday hour.

Right at the entrance you see colorful drinks lined up~ Oh! The staff had changed. A friendly foreign staff member, whose Korean pronunciation was even better than a native speaker's, told us to sit at whichever round table we liked. Where to sit? I looked around, and since the mood is dark, I picked a bright spot where the food would show up best in photos.

What is the interior of Pizza Never Sleeps like?

Pizza Never Sleeps near Songpanaru Station is famous for its hip pizza, and its unique interior catches the eye too. Pizza and 19th-century European antique style go together surprisingly well here.

Here and there you can spot ancient-European-style columns and sculptures. The owner must love ancient European style.

Every time I come, it feels like one more wall decoration has been added, haha. Is that just me?

Pizza Never Sleeps guide: dough, sizes and half-and-half surcharge

The info card on the tables at Pizza Never Sleeps Songridan-gil Branch lays out the dough, sizes and half-and-half rules. Here is what the store's notice says.

Dough and baking process

  • They say the handmade dough is aged cold for 36 hours or more.
  • It's baked in a stone-deck oven (deck oven), which they say makes the outside crisp and the inside moist.
  • Because the oven runs hot, the crust edge or bottom may get a bit charred, which the notice says is natural.
  • Cooking starts as soon as you order and takes about 10–20 minutes.

Pizza sizes and how many people they serve

  • Regular (12 inches, about 30.5 cm across): serves 2–3
  • Large (16 inches, about 40.6 cm across): serves 3–4
  • It may vary depending on the toppings.

Half-and-half pizza pricing

  • You can choose two flavors at once.
  • The price is based on the pricier menu item, with a surcharge by size.
  • Regular size +₩2,000
  • Large size +₩3,000

Restroom, self-service bar and review event

  • The restroom is unisex and has a passcode. Staff give you toilet paper at the counter, and a locked door means it's occupied.
  • Use the self-bar in the back for water, wet wipes, napkins, aprons and straws.
  • If you join the Naver receipt review event, you can get high-quality french fries. You need to save the store, write a review of two or more lines with photos, and have staff check it; to write it in advance, you can prepay at the counter.
Basic sauce and jalapeños at Pizza Never Sleeps

The basic sauce came out~ and they also gave us jalapeños, which are perfect when the pizza starts to feel heavy!

Beef and Chicken Never Sleeps half-and-half: how did it taste?

This time I ordered a half-and-half of Beef Never Sleeps and Chicken Never Sleeps, so you get bulgogi and chicken on one pizza. It came out pretty quickly! Of all the pizzas I've had at Pizza Never Sleeps near Songpanaru Station, this half-and-half was honestly the best!

Beef Never Sleeps pizza (₩33,000)

Beef Never Sleeps is the signature pizza here, piled with beef aged in Never Sleeps wine, jalapeños, onions and water chestnuts, for ₩33,000. Ours was a half-and-half, so ₩35,000! I missed this taste!!! Bulgogi pizza is one of my favorite pizza flavors.

Lifting a slice of Beef Never Sleeps pizza

Now let's scoop up a slice and try it~!

Evenly baked slice of Beef Never Sleeps pizza

Yes~ this is the taste! So good! And it felt like the pizza was baked better than usual that day. It was cooked evenly, so I really enjoyed it.

I tried dipping it in the sauce too, but the pizza itself is so good that dipping only the crust ends (?) in the basic sauce is, I think, one of the best ways to eat it.

Chicken Never Sleeps pizza

Chicken Never Sleeps is a pizza with red onion, whole garlic cloves, barbecue chicken topping and barbecue sauce, and I tried it for the first time this visit.

On the Chicken Never Sleeps, the sauce was stronger than the pizza itself. If you like strong flavors, it's worth trying.
