Gwangjin bakery café for takeout croissants and egg flan: Stack Bakery
In short
Stack Bakery (Konkuk University Station Main Branch) is a croissant and pastry bakery on Ttukseom-ro 31-gil in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The writer had a decaf iced Americano and an egg flan at a 2nd-floor window seat, then took a croissant, a ham and cheese pain and a Johnsonville sausage pastry home to try. Stack Bakery's croissants stand out for their crisp texture and rich butter flavor, making the bakery a good takeout stop before a picnic at Ttukseom Hangang Park.

I visited Stack Bakery (스택베이커리), a croissant-famous bakery in Jayang-dong. Here's my Stack Bakery review!
Where is Stack Bakery, and what are the hours?
Stack Bakery is at 5 Ttukseom-ro 31-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. It's open Thursday to Tuesday, 08:00–21:00 (last order 20:00), and closed every Wednesday. There's no parking, so they recommend the Jayang 4-dong public parking lot.
- Takeout, Wi-Fi, takeout discount, groups, delivery, wheelchair-accessible entrance
- Easy payment apps accepted; the high oil price relief support fund can be used

The shop is near Noroonsan Market. It's also not far from Konkuk University's lamb skewer street, so it's easy to enjoy a café and then head over for a meal. Ttukseom Hangang Park is an 8-minute walk away too, so it's a nice place to grab bread to go before heading to the Han River park.
Stack Bakery's 1st and 2nd floors and atmosphere

The 1st floor is mostly a counter area for ordering. The tasty breads sit in the showcase behind clear guards, so you can see them right away as you order.

The shop uses the 2nd floor too. Go up the stairs and you can eat bread with a drink inside.

The 2nd floor feels fresh and airy, with big windows looking out on lush green trees. The service table has bottled water, tissues, wet wipes, chairs, blankets and stool boxes, so the owner's thoughtfulness really shows.

Natural light and fresh flowers suit the space, so it would be good for a quiet solo café time too. The restroom is on the 2nd floor, and I liked that the toilets are separated, so it's clean to use.
Stack Bakery menu and prices

Drinks start from espresso and Americano (₩4,500), with coffee, ades and teas to choose from. There are sandwiches too, and single items start in the ₩7,000 range, which I thought was reasonable. Set menus are based on an Americano, and you can swap the drink by paying the difference, which is also fair.

Stack Bakery was named number one by a Frenchman who was searching for Seoul's best croissant in a Shorts video. Maybe that's why the croissants look so impressive. The pastry layers were clearly visible from the outside. The price was reasonable too: croissant ₩4,200.

They also had pastry loaf bread, flat croissants and kouign-amann.

Besides pain au chocolat, a new ham cheese pain has launched too. I was curious about the ham cheese pain, so I ordered it to take out.

There were plenty of other pastry-based items too: egg flan, chocolate flan, almond pain suisse, Johnsonville sausage pastry, Nutella peanut pastry and more.

They have salt bread as well, so it's good if you're curious about a different style. The savory olive cheese pastry looked like a nice wine pairing. Here's what I ordered at Stack Bakery.
- Dine-in: decaf iced Americano, egg flan
- Takeout: croissant, ham cheese pain, Johnsonville sausage pastry
How were the coffee and egg flan at Stack Bakery?

I took a shot of my order by the 2nd-floor window with the pretty fresh flowers. Natural light suits this space so well, doesn't it?

The decaf iced Americano was fairly plain, with a nutty, toasty flavor dominating, but I also noticed a bright acidity. I visited during the day and was desperate for a cold coffee, so these beans suited my thirst perfectly.

The egg flan was my first time trying it at Stack Bakery. Unlike the egg tarts I know, the smooth custard filling and crispy pastry made a fresh combination. The base was baked crisp all the way down, so the crunch went really well.

Taste of the takeout croissant, ham cheese pain and sausage pastry
I ate the breads I took home from Stack Bakery too.

It really is a croissant specialist. From the first bite, the crisp texture and rich butter flavor went wonderfully together. Personally, I think it would be even better made into a sandwich.

The ham cheese pain had the flavor of nicely baked cheese and tasty ham tucked inside the pastry. I think it would be even better warmed up.

The Johnsonville sausage pastry had a snappy sausage that was really tasty. The pastry layers were so well formed that it seemed like a good pairing with beer.
Who is Stack Bakery for?
Living up to its title as a Frenchman's number one croissant spot in Seoul, Stack Bakery in Jayang-dong made me marvel at the rich butter aroma and perfect crispness from the first bite. It's close to Konkuk University's lamb skewer street and Noroonsan Market, and Ttukseom Hangang Park is an 8-minute walk away, so I recommend it as a course for packing lots of tasty bread for a picnic before a Han River outing on a nice day!
