Lip tattoo studio in Seocho, Seoul: Lamoon Brow’s coral result

In short

Lamoon Brow is a private lip tattoo studio in Seocho, Seoul, where I had my first procedure to soften my lips’ purplish, dark outline. The coral tone and reduced dark border pleased me after five days, though I planned to wait a month before deciding on a touch-up.

Through day 5 after my first lip tattoo procedure

I got my first lip tattoo because my lips had a purplish cast and a dark outline. I took a day off from work in Gurae-dong, Gimpo, and traveled two hours to Lamoon Brow (라문브로우) in Seocho-dong. This is my record of the color and changes over five days after the first procedure.

What concerned me about my lips before the procedure?

Comparing before and after, I noticed that my natural lips had a strong purplish cast, while the border was both blurred and dark. There was also discoloration of an unknown cause. During the consultation, I was told that my lips needed a process to neutralize the dark color rather than simply adding color.

I worried when I was told it might be difficult to achieve the color I wanted in one session. Still, after the first procedure, the bluish, dark border looked coral, and I liked the gradient leading inward across my lips.

The owner was kind. She seemed proud of her work, which made me feel I could trust her with the procedure.

How did I choose my lip color?

I showed her the Cha Cha Tint I normally use and some selfies. I have a light spring-warm tone and wanted the tint’s color; the mixed color felt almost identical to the tint I brought. I could also check colors by holding a color chart directly against my lips.

Because it is a one-person studio, I could receive the procedure in a private space.

What was the procedure and pain like?

First, a numbing cream was applied, and I waited for about 15 minutes.

After shaping the outline of my lips, the procedure began. I was nervous because I remembered eyebrow tattooing hurting a little in the past, but this time it hurt less than I expected.

As I recall, color was applied around six or seven times across my upper and lower lips. The first one or two passes hurt slightly, but from the third onward, perhaps because I had relaxed, I got through it while thinking about other things. To me, it felt like being lightly poked with a ballpoint pen.

At the end, I received a healing cream and lip balm. Since my makeup around the mouth had been removed for the procedure, she also gave me cream to apply around my lips.

How did the color look after the first procedure, and what about touch-ups?

I was told that lips like mine, with purplish coloring and dark discoloration around the edge, may need one or two touch-ups to achieve the desired color. I liked the color even after the first procedure.

During the consultation, though, I was told the color looks best on days one through three after the procedure, then appears lighter than my natural lip color before returning after about a month. I had not yet seen the one-month result, so I planned to wait before deciding whether to get a touch-up.

Originally, even when I wore tint, it did not cover the dark part along my lip line well. I was especially pleased that this area looked different after the first procedure.

How did peeling and color change over five days?

On day one, my lips felt smooth, and I liked the color.

On day two, I could see small flakes beginning to form on close inspection. They peeled most around the outer edge of my lips.

On day three, the peeling became more pronounced. By evening, the lifted flakes were hanging loose.

On day four, swollen flakes came off after I washed my face. The color felt slightly lighter, but I liked that the dark areas around the edge of my lips no longer seemed visible.

When I compared day five with before the procedure, I noticed that the dark line around the edge had diminished even after the flakes came off. Overall, the bluish and purplish cast also seemed reduced. This is as far as I observed; I planned to wait until one month had passed before deciding on a touch-up.
