Hwaro Yangmi near Ttukseom Station: how is it for a workday lunch?
Hwaro Yangmi (화로양미) is a lamb skewer restaurant in Seongsu, very close to Ttukseom Station, open daily from 10:30 to 22:30. Today I was once again agonizing over what to eat for lunch, so I went for somewhere new, let's gooo haha. Doesn't it just put you in a good mood every time you discover a good place near the office? Or is that only me, lol. Let's go have a proper lunch!!

I loved that Hwaro Yangmi is so close to Ttukseom Station! Even better that it's near my office... yep. You know how precious it is for office workers not to have to go far at lunchtime, lol.
Good location, and you can eat lamb skewers too, so this is a place to remember. Next time I'll suggest we come here for a company dinner... haha. Lamb skewers and beer after work would be pretty great, right?! lol

How much is the lunch buffet at Hwaro Yangmi?
Looking at the menu, Hwaro Yangmi also runs a Chinese lunch buffet, and the price is a whole ₩9,000. There are Chinese dishes like guobaorou (crispy sweet-and-sour fried pork) and pork belly kimchi, so it looks good for lunch too. That lineup for ₩9,000 is a total steal, isn't it...?!
When you look for lunch in Seongsu, you end up eating the same things every day, T_T. Knowing a place with a Chinese buffet gives you one more option when you're stuck, haha. This time I had lamb skewers, and next time I want to try the buffet!

Side dish at Hwaro Yangmi: mushrooms with wasabi
Mushrooms came out as the side dish at Hwaro Yangmi, which was a little unusual. I got shown to my seat and, wait, mushrooms?! And when you dab wasabi on these mushrooms... it's like taco wasabi, right,,~~~~ my favorite~~ lol.
I love this kind of combo, so the side dish hit my taste before the lamb skewers even arrived, haha. Ready to eat properly before the skewers are even out!

First order at Hwaro Yangmi: basic lamb skewers, 2 servings
The menu at Hwaro Yangmi had lots of dishes, but for the first visit I ordered 2 servings of the basic lamb skewers. Okay, let's give the menu a quick scan~~ With lamb skewers you have to start with the basics, right, haha. I ordered while wondering how Hwaro Yangmi's lamb skewers would turn out!

Who grills the lamb skewers at Hwaro Yangmi?
At Hwaro Yangmi, the owner grilled the lamb skewers himself. The grill was also a bit different from what I know! It was a method I'd never seen, so it was fun, lol. And watching the owner grill them with such flair was entertaining too. I've only ever seen skewers loaded onto a machine that spins round and round...?!

I'm only used to turning the skewers myself as they grill. But having them grilled like this felt faster and more sensible, if anything... yep yep. Above all, the meat cooks really well, lol. Ahh, so refreshing...
With the owner doing the grilling, there's no worrying about one side burning or when to flip, so it was easy. It was a first for me, so it was fascinating and I kept staring, haha.

The owner grilled our 2 servings of skewers in no time. Seriously, he grills so well, lol. As expected... the pros are different... He was so skilled, both at cooking each skewer and at working fast. If you told me to grill like this at home, I don't think I could, T_T. I came to Seongsu for lamb skewers and ended up experiencing a whole new way of grilling, haha.

Set the cooked skewers aside and warm them up as you eat
At Hwaro Yangmi, the cooked skewers are set aside, and you just warm them up a little at a time as you eat. Finally, cooked skewers~~!!! You don't have to keep grilling and waiting from start to finish, since you can pull the done skewers aside and eat. It was really convenient.
This way is so good, isn't it...? Grilling lamb skewers is surprisingly hands-on work, but eating like this makes the meal much more relaxed. Absolutely the best T_T.

How do Hwaro Yangmi's lamb skewers taste? The fat-to-meat ratio
The fat-to-meat ratio of the lamb skewers at Hwaro Yangmi was just right, and I personally really liked it!! Kyaaa... can you see how glossy they are? The meat looks gorgeous before you even taste it T_T. It didn't feel just greasy; the meat and fat blended nicely together, which I liked, haha.
I think the owner grilling them so well played a part in how tasty they were too! Remember Hwaro Yangmi for when you want lamb skewers near Ttukseom Station... noted, lol. To think there's a place like this near my office, I really have to come here for a company dinner next time...haha.
