While looking for somewhere to go with my dog over the weekend, I visited MUG (카페 먹) in Ulju, Ulsan. It was a spacious bakery café with a wide selection of breads. What stayed with me was being able to have coffee at an outdoor table and then walk along the trail.

Where is MUG in Ulju, and is parking convenient?

The address is 90 Hyangsan Dagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, South Korea. It is some distance from central Ulsan, but it was a nice place to linger and enjoy the surrounding nature. There was plenty of parking when I visited, so parking was not difficult.

The hours listed in the original post are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, with last orders at 7:30 PM. It also stated that group visits are possible.

What are the indoor atmosphere and photo areas like?

The café was large, and its dark wood tones gave it a calm feel. When I came out toward the entrance, bubbles were floating around, and I saw children enjoying them. There was also a mirror photo spot, which I thought would be nice for taking pictures.

There were artworks displayed at the indoor entrance. A painting with the blue tones of the sea especially caught my eye.

There was plenty of seating inside, and the outdoor view opened up from the windows. On one side, a projector was showing underwater scenery. The overall atmosphere was comfortable, but it was busy on the weekend, so I was disappointed that I could not take many indoor photos.

Where did I sit and walk with my dog?

I used the dog-friendly outdoor seating area with my dog. I also saw quite a few other guests who had brought dogs. Being able to drink coffee close to nature made it a satisfying weekend outing.

Walking up the stairs, I found cozier outdoor seating higher up. The large outdoor yard connects to a dirt walking trail, so I walked there with my dog. Since it is away from the city, I could spend time at an easy pace in nature.

What drinks and bakery items were available?

I ordered an iced Americano and the signature MUG Black Latte. The menu also included an avocado smoothie and MUG lemonade.

There were so many bakery items that it took time to choose. The cinnamon rolls are said to vary depending on the season and ingredients.

At first, I was disappointed because some breads had sold out, but white rolls and injeolmi rolls were later restocked. They were generously sized, too.

Several kinds of cake were also available. It was fun to look over the breads and cakes one by one.

How did the breads I tried taste and feel?

The breads I chose were a long, snappy sausage bread, an injeolmi roll (rice-cake powder roll), and what I remember as milk mochi. I am not certain of the mochi's exact menu name.

I also took photos with my dog and the breads I had chosen in front of us.

The mochi had plenty of cream cheese filling inside its chewy outer layer. The combination of the chewy texture and cream suited my taste well.

The sausage bread was large enough that one was quite filling. The sausage had a snappy texture and went well with the soft bread.

The injeolmi roll was especially memorable. Nutty injeolmi powder and sweet cream came together well, while the bread was soft yet chewy.

When should I visit for a wider choice of breads?

After 4:00 PM on weekends, many breads may be sold out, so I recommend arriving a little earlier if you want to choose from a wide variety. Some items were restocked during my visit, but the kinds you want will not always be available.

The distance from central Ulsan was something to consider, but I was satisfied because I could eat bread and take my dog for a walk. I would like to return on a day when I want to spend time outdoors looking at the scenery.
