This is Hunta Euljiro, an Euljiro-ipgu restaurant I visited for a solo dinner! I was craving tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), and what I ordered that day was the fillet katsu.

Fillet katsu can sometimes come out dry if it's done badly, but the one I had at Hunta Euljiro had an impressively tender texture, and it stands out even among all the fillet katsu I've eaten so far. Here's my honest review of Hunta Euljiro, a great place to come for dinner on your own!

Solo dinner near Euljiro-ipgu: what's the atmosphere at Hunta Euljiro?

Hunta Euljiro is on the ground floor of the Fastfive building, so it wasn't hard to find from Euljiro-ipgu Station. I'd been wondering what to have for dinner near the station and wanted tonkatsu, and since it's an easy dish to eat alone, I decided to enjoy a relaxed solo meal that day.

Inside, the wood-tone interior caught my eye, and the whole place felt warm yet clean. The ceilings are high and the space doesn't feel cramped, so it looked like a comfortable spot to linger even while eating alone.

When you're looking for somewhere to eat alone at night, it matters whether you can sit comfortably without feeling self-conscious. In that sense, Hunta Euljiro was a good place for eating solo.
What does the fillet katsu at Hunta Euljiro look like?

At Hunta Euljiro I ordered the fillet katsu without a second thought. Among tonkatsu cuts, fillet is the one many people choose when they like a light, tender texture, right? I like fillet katsu too, so I waited excited to see what the texture would be like.

Soon the fillet katsu arrived! Seeing the crisply fried coating and the appetizing cross-section of the meat, I couldn't wait to take a bite. It came with sides like rice, soup and cabbage salad, so it was a well-rounded set for a full meal.
Was the fillet katsu dry? One of my top 3 fillet katsu so far
With the very first bite, the tenderness of the meat was the first thing I noticed. Fillet katsu's charm is its light flavor, but if the meat is dry, it can be disappointing as you keep eating. The fillet katsu at Hunta Euljiro, though, had a tender texture that really stayed with me.
The outside is wrapped in a crisp coating while the meat inside is tender to chew, and that combination made each bite a pleasure. The nuttiness of the coating mixed with the light flavor of the meat, so I could fully taste what makes tonkatsu special.

Above all, I liked the tender texture that's special to fillet. If you prefer enjoying the light flavor of the meat itself over strong, punchy tastes, I think this kind of fillet katsu will suit you better.

It was good with rice in every bite, and just as good on its own, so I was really satisfied. I'd come looking for a good place near Euljiro-ipgu and ended up craving tonkatsu, and I thought I'd made the right choice with the fillet katsu.
Tonkatsu at Hunta Euljiro: dip it in salt or sauce?

At Hunta Euljiro you can enjoy your tonkatsu with salt, pepper, tonkatsu sauce and more, so it's fun to compare flavors according to your taste. The taste of tonkatsu seems to change a little depending on what you pair it with.

Salt works when you want the plain, light flavor of the meat, and tonkatsu sauce suits you when you want a more familiar, richer taste. And if you have some cabbage salad between bites of crispy tonkatsu, your mouth feels much fresher.
With rice and soup too, it was a hearty dinner.
