When you want a filling lunch, a bowl of hot gukbap (rice soup) is the best, right?! This time I went to Gyeongsangdo Galbi Gukbap Main Branch (경상도 갈비국밥 본점), which I found while searching for good places in Yeoksam. I visited around 12:30 on a weekday, right in the middle of lunchtime.

I figured it would be packed at lunchtime, but luckily I got in right away with no wait, haha. I ordered the clear Hanu pork gukbap (special)!! And I tried the chilled Hanu pork front leg slices (naengjeyuk) too :)

The broth was clear and clean, and the pork in the gukbap was so tender that I really enjoyed it. Adding the soft cold pork on the side made it feel like a proper lunch, haha.
Is there a wait at Gyeongsangdo Galbi Gukbap near Yeoksam Station on weekday lunch?
At 12:30 on a weekday, I could walk straight into Gyeongsangdo Galbi Gukbap Main Branch with no wait. It's a good place to stop by when you're craving gukbap near Yeoksam Station.
With so many office workers around at lunchtime, I wondered if there would be a line. Luckily I got in right away, haha.

When you're looking for a lunch spot, the waiting time really does weigh on your mind, doesn't it?! Being able to start eating right away made it all the more comfortable. If you're still deciding on lunch near Yeoksam Station, keep Gyeongsangdo Galbi Gukbap in mind :)
What about the broth and rice refills and the table setup?

The sign said refills of broth and rice are free! It's a great place to come when you want a hearty lunch!

The water isn't plain water but barley tea, which I liked too!

Every table has seasoned chili paste (dadaegi), pepper and salted shrimp, so you can customize your gukbap however you like :) Kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), chives, onion and chili peppers were there too, and they went well with the meal :)
How does the clear Hanu pork gukbap (special) broth taste?

What I ordered was the clear Hanu pork gukbap (special)!! The pork gukbap here isn't the milky, rich style; its trademark is a clear broth. With gukbap, the broth is what really matters, haha.

I tried the broth first, and it was clean and easy to eat without feeling heavy. I worried a clear broth might be a bit bland, but when I actually tried it, it had the charm that's unique to clear broths!

Personally I'm a big fan of gukbap with this kind of clean broth, haha. From the broth to the meat, I enjoyed all of it and was satisfied.
Is the pork in the pork gukbap tender?

The pork in the clear Hanu pork gukbap (special) was tender and soft, and I enjoyed it, haha. The meat is something you can't skip in pork gukbap, right?!

I loved the soft texture of the meat. The clean broth and tender pork made a great combination!! Eating broth and meat together made it a hearty meal. If you're looking for a pork gukbap place in Yeoksam and prefer a clear, clean broth over a milky one, this style might suit you :)
Is the chilled Hanu pork front leg good with gukbap?

The dish I had alongside the pork gukbap at Gyeongsangdo Galbi Gukbap Main Branch was the chilled Hanu pork front leg slices (naengjeyuk)!! Gukbap alone is filling, but adding a meat dish gives you more variety, haha.

Above all, I liked how tender the chilled Hanu pork front leg was. Cold pork was unfamiliar to me, but the texture was really soft and I enjoyed it!! The gukbap is hot and the cold pork is chilled, so there's some fun in eating the two together, haha.

It was a meal I think I'll remember on a day when I'm craving a hearty bowl of gukbap :)
