Suwon Maetan-dong burger restaurant, no spicy sauce: 666 Burger

In short

666 Burger Main Branch is an American-style handmade burger restaurant on Maeyeong-ro in Maetan-dong, Suwon. Eating with a child before setting off for Yeonggwang, the writer picked items with no spicy sauce — The Mushroom single for 9,500 won and the Cheese in the Trap set for 13,500 won — and got soft buns, crisp-outside, juicy-inside patties and handmade fries served fast. 666 Burger Main Branch is a good stop for a filling meal with a child on a tight schedule.

Hi, this is Kini, still on my nationwide half-price travel spree haha.

On the day we left for Yeonggwang! Before a long drive, I wanted a quick, simple lunch, so I stopped by 666 Burger Main Branch in Maetan-dong, Suwon. Our departure time was so tight we really had to eat fast and go, but I didn't want to just settle for something instant either.

Conveniently, a famous handmade burger place's main branch was sitting right along our route, so I drove straight over without a second thought.

The ground-floor store looked pretty spacious even from outside, and that red accent really caught the eye. I'd noticed it before while driving past — it was so striking — and the timing finally worked out for me to check it out!

Inside 666 Burger: a red-accented American burger-joint look

Inside, 666 Burger Main Branch had a hip white base with sharp pops of red. The moment I stepped in, I genuinely felt like I'd traveled to a real American burger joint. The interior was decorated in a very trendy way, and the space itself was much roomier and more comfortable than I expected.

The open kitchen was also kept spotlessly clean,

and the bussing station and everything else made the whole place feel really tidy! The entire time we ate, delivery riders kept coming and going and the pickup order alerts never stopped ringing, so I thought, 'ah, this is a real neighborhood delivery and takeout favorite.'

The tables were well-spaced and the dining hall itself felt relaxed, which made it a great spot for eating in comfortably like we did.

Ordering burgers with no spicy sauce for a child

At 666 Burger Main Branch we ordered The Mushroom single, 9,500 won, and the Cheese in the Trap set, 13,500 won. Since I had to eat with my kid this time, I carefully picked menu items without spicy sauce. Looking at the menu, each burger came with its own distinct special sauce, so there was real fun in choosing by preference.

  • The Mushroom single: ₩9,500

Browsing the menu, I noticed quite a few spicy burgers with sriracha sauce too — next time I definitely want to try the spicy line-up!

Soft buns and crisp-outside, juicy-inside patties

The first thing that caught my eye as soon as the food arrived was the bun. It wasn't dry at all — completely soft and fluffy, with an amazing texture. Joy took a bite of the bread and said it was delicious too, haha. I cut up the soft bread and beef patty into small pieces for my kid, and she ate it up happily.

The patties were grilled to perfect crisp-outside, juicy-inside doneness, with the juices bursting moist in my mouth. Each burger seemed to have its own slightly different seasoning and cooking style for the patty, so it felt like eating a completely different dish with each one — really unique.

Cheese in the Trap set, 13,500 won

The clear favorite for my husband and Joy — Cheese in the Trap! One bite in and you can't help but go, 'ah, this is the real deal, authentic American-style burger!' The cheese was rich and generously loaded, deeply savory, with a pleasant hit of pepper aroma cutting through for just the right punch and a deep, addictive umami finish. If you love the combo of a juicy thick patty with salty melted cheese, this one won't disappoint.

On the other hand, the one that perfectly matched my taste was this Mushroom burger. Compared to Cheese in the Trap, the first bite might feel relatively mild and plain, but the more you chew, the deeper the appeal. It's packed with mushrooms, and thanks to their moist texture the patty blends together very smoothly without any dryness at all.

Instead of a heavy, punchy flavor, the chewy, varied texture of the mushrooms really shines through, making for a cleaner, healthier-tasting burger. For someone like me who usually enjoys the natural texture and subtle flavor of ingredients, this Mushroom burger was hands-down my number one.

The handmade fries that come with the set

The handmade fries that came with the set exceeded expectations too. Instead of the usual thin frozen fries, these were thick, handmade-style fries that still kept the shape and grain of real potatoes. The oil must have been clean, because there was no stale smell at all — fried clean and crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. They were seasoned with a bit generous salt, so I lightly brushed off some of the salt on the surface before eating, and the seasoning ended up just right!

Is 666 Burger Main Branch worth a road-trip lunch stop?

I stopped by mainly because I was short on time before a trip and needed a simple lunch, but I walked out having had a meal far more filling and satisfying than expected. Every burger has its own distinct sauce personality, and the patty and bun quality is spot-on, so I'd strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a properly made handmade burger spot in Suwon. The store is hip and spacious, great for eating in, and it'd also be great for takeout or delivery!
