For a recent anniversary, I wanted to leave behind some special photos, so I went to take self photos at "Areye Studio" 📸
Where is Areye Studio, and is there parking?
Areye Studio is on the basement level of 188-1 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, in the basement of Samjin Building, about 2 minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Hongik University Station. It's open 00:00–24:00 every day, with free parking and pets welcome.
It's on B1 of Samjin Building, about 2 minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Hongik University Station! The amazing part is that this place is open 24 hours a day, every day ★
On the ground floor, look for the Cheonggiwa Galbi building and go into the building right next to it, haha. Parking fits 1 car, but if it's full you'll need to use a nearby paid lot ~~
What's in the powder room at Areye Studio?
Areye Studio's powder room has a hair dryer, flat iron, and hangers all set up, plus a big mirror. I went to touch up my makeup before shooting, and it was much better equipped than I expected!
The mirror was big too, so it was great for fixing myself up, haha.
Room A: the white horizon rental studio
Areye Studio has two rooms. Room A is a white horizon rental studio. A bit of a more professional shooting space...?
Looks like people use this a lot for profile photos or commercial shoots, haha.
Room B: the self photo studio for couples
Room B is the self photo shooting studio. Since we came to take self photos, we used Areye Studio's Room B ☺️
What anniversary props can you use?
Flowers, cakes, balloons, headbands, and more — such a wide variety of props were ready, and I loved it!! Using the props let us shoot in a slightly more special way, with different concepts (❁´▽`❁)
Number balloons, heart balloons, flowers — they had it all, so for anyone coming to shoot anniversary photos like us, you can really show up empty-handed, hahaha.
There were also different types of chairs, so it was nice being able to switch between several for different moods, haha.
The 30-minute shoot: camera and full-length mirror
In front of Room B there's a camera and a full-length mirror, so you can see the photos right after taking them. The total shooting time was 30 minutes, which felt generous.
While shooting, I could check the mirror to fix myself up, and easily change poses or positions on the spot, which was convenient, haha. The total shoot time of 30 minutes was generous, so we had fun switching up poses, haha.
Changing the backdrop from white to yellow
Areye Studio's default background is white, but if you ask the owner, you can switch to a different color background too!! We shot with white for a bit, then switched to a yellow background, haha. Changing the background color really changed the mood ~
How long do photo selection and printing take?
After the 30-minute shoot, you get 15 minutes to pick the photos you like. You choose 2 main and 2 sub photos, 4 in total, but there were more photos I liked than I expected, so picking just 4 was surprisingly hard, lol T_T
After waiting around 10 minutes, they retouch and print the photos right away and even package them like this. Usually you wait over 2 hours for this kind of thing, but here it's super fast, which is great!!! hahaha
We got 2 prints at 4x6 size of the main photos, 1 four-cut photo strip with main+sub photos, and 2 paper frames. That's what we received!!
On top of that, you can get the raw files for an extra ₩10,000, or free if you agree to post the photos on Instagram~! I loved not just the 4 final photos but all the raw shots too, so I was completely satisfied!!!
