Siheung seafood restaurant, icy mulhoe with Mom: Eobu Sinkwangho
In short
Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch is a seafood restaurant on the first floor of the Urban Stay building on Geobukseom in Siheung, Gyeonggi. On a hot day, the writer and her mom shared a small rainbow mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). Even the small size came in a big basin, with fresh kiwi, sea squirt, sea cucumber and abalone in a mild, slushy iced broth. She found Eobu Sinkwangho's mulhoe better than the mulhoe she used to eat in Pohang, and recommends it for a summer meal out.

It was so hot that I suddenly craved mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), so my mom and I went to Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch (어부신광호) in Siheung. I did an internship in Pohang and ate mulhoe all the time, and I haven't found anything near home that was as good as that. But this place was even better than the mulhoe I had in Pohang, and the raw fish was fresh too! It's one of my favorite summer meals to recommend.
Where is Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch, and what about parking?
Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch is at 7 Geobukseomdulle-gil, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, on the first floor (units 116-118) of the Geobukseom Urban Stay building, and parking is available. It's open daily 11:00-24:00 with last order at 23:00, and there are baby chairs.

After parking and coming up, go outside the building and look for the restaurant from there; it's easier to find that way. I only searched inside the building at first, so I got a little lost. The parking area is big, so parking was easy. Just ask for parking registration when you leave.
What's the atmosphere like? Good for a family gathering?
The restaurant is quite spacious, and they told us it can host groups of 60 or more. We went on a weekday and it was quiet, but note that it gets crowded on weekends.

There are baby chairs, so it's good for visiting with a baby too. Geobukseom is also close to Oido, so I'd recommend it when you're looking for a family gathering spot near Oido. The place is clean, and the menu is something the whole family will enjoy.

It's almost an open kitchen, so you can see them making the mulhoe as soon as you order!
What's on the menu?
Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch has a wide seafood-focused menu. Besides shellfish hot pot, rainbow mulhoe and kalguksu, there are also hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl) and seafood ttukbaegi (stone-pot stew) that work well as a meal!

We ordered the small rainbow mulhoe. There's also an event: write a Naver receipt review and choose one of soju, beer or extra kalguksu noodles.

The side dishes come out neat and tidy too! It had been a while since I'd had beondegi (silkworm pupae), and it was so good, haha. It's kind of something you can only get at a raw fish restaurant.
How were the portion and taste of the small rainbow mulhoe?

As the name says, the rainbow mulhoe is full of ingredients in all kinds of colors. Even the small size came in a big basin, and I was amazed at the amount 👍 The moment I saw it I thought, 'Can we even finish this..?' but it was so good that the two of us ate until we were really full.

The rainbow mulhoe has kiwi, sea squirt, sea cucumber, abalone, tomato and more, and every ingredient was really, really fresh. I normally don't eat sea squirt because it tastes fishy, but here there was no fishiness, just the freshness of the sea, so I ate it all! The sea cucumber was really chewy and delicious too.
There was so much that it was hard to mix! I carefully mixed it while melting the icy broth underneath. With the icy broth that wasn't too strong, both my mom and I loved it 😋 My mom, who is picky about food, said this place was really good and was satisfied.

And finally, the somyeon (thin wheat noodles) that came with it! Normally I mix rice into my mulhoe too, but the portion was so big and filling that I settled for the noodles.
How does it compare with other mulhoe restaurants?
This was a Geobukseom mulhoe place I truly enjoyed for the first time in a while! Whenever I went to places said to have great mulhoe, it was either too tangy and sour, or there wasn't enough seafood. At Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch, the icy broth was great, and above all there was a variety of seafood and fruit, and it was really, really fresh! If you're looking for a good mulhoe spot in Geobukseom, I recommend Eobu Sinkwangho Geobukseom Branch.
