Today I visited Cozy Bear (코지베어), a bakery café in Songdo, Incheon, where you can enjoy great salt bread with your coffee. Conclusion first: this place is a real salt bread winner! The combo of nutty bread and a cold Americano was so good, and I left very happy.

Cozy Bear is a salt bread specialty bakery café in the academy district. The wood tones give it a cozy, stylish feel, and there are tables both inside and outside.

It is only about 30 seconds on foot from Songdo Food Mart, so it is easy to find, and being on the 1st floor makes it very accessible. There is no private parking lot, but a free public parking lot right in front makes visiting by car easy too!

Cozy Bear uses good ingredients and bakes a set number of breads each day. I heard the salt bread comes out fresh twice a day, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Drinking just coffee at a café is nice, but the charm of a bakery café is getting freshly baked bread with it. There is actually a baking area inside the café, so I imagine a lovely buttery smell drifts out if you go when the salt bread comes out.

The salt bread at Cozy Bear comes in several kinds, from ₩3,500 for plain to ₩5,800 for ang-butter (red bean paste and butter). It is a popular Songdo salt bread spot, so when I went only about 3 kinds were left.

The salt bread I saw at the Cozy Bear counter looked so delicious that we ordered one bun each that day. One salt bread with a glass of iced Americano made a great light brunch.

I heard Cozy Bear makes its salt bread with French fermented butter, Guérande sea salt and French flour. It tastes plain yet nutty! The salty flavor and the richness of the butter come together, and I kept reaching for more.

The iced Americano at Cozy Bear is ₩3,800, and for ₩500 more you can get it decaf. The Americano price is easy on the wallet too, right? Cozy Bear cares about its coffee as well as its bread.

I heard they use beans roasted together with a national team barista, and they prepare coffee that goes well with the nutty flavor of the salt bread.

After a bite of bread, a sip of cold coffee leaves your mouth feeling clean, which makes dessert time even more enjoyable. The vanilla drinks apparently use handmade vanilla beans, so I recommend them to anyone who likes sweet drinks!
