I hadn't seen my friends in a while and was searching for a good spot in Geomdan, Danghadong when I found Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi! Turns out it's already a well-known local favorite, famous for its Jeju-aged meat.

Full house on a Saturday night: staff grill every rib for you
We walked in and it was completely full..! Luckily one table left right as we arrived, so we got seated immediately haha. Turns out my friends already knew about this Danghadong BBQ spot lol.
Once we sat down they brought out the charcoal, and then they grilled all the meat for us too!!!! We hadn't seen each other in ages so we had so much to catch up on, and having it all grilled for us made it so much easier.

They only sell two types of meat — Jeju Ddotgalbi and Jeju Teukmokssal — but I loved that the side menu was so varied.

Three servings of Jeju ddotgalbi: the bone-in rib cut explained
There were three of us so we started with 3 servings of Jeju Ddotgalbi! It comes lightly salted and looks a bit like ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly).

At Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi in Danghadong, the rib bone comes attached to the meat. I don't think I've seen this cut before, so I was super excited ෆ — the marbling already looked amazing.
The staff grilled everything for us, which was so~~~ convenient, and their grilling skills were no joke lol. It really felt like being at a famous Jeju black pork restaurant!

Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi in Danghadong also serves myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) ㅠㅠㅠㅠ I love myeoljeot... it tastes exactly like the myeoljeot at famous Jeju black pork restaurants!

Tasting it, the Jeju Ddotgalbi at Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi in Danghadong is fatty like ogyeopsal so it's incredibly savory, but has a chewy texture like kkodeulsal (crispy pork). Absolutely delicious... I have to say this place is genuinely worth a trip if you're ever in Geomdan.

Three servings weren't enough, so we added a fourth
In the end we added a 4th serving lol. Even the two of us on Wegovy ate happily — a taste that beats Wegovy lol. If you've got big eaters, might want 2 servings per person.

Makes sense, because the color of the meat is just insane… tastier than samgyeopsal and better texture than mokssal, definitely coming back ㅠㅠㅠ

It might look like samgyeopsal or ogyeopsal at first glance, but once you taste it you'll see — this Danghadong BBQ spot isn't just a plain, ordinary restaurant. If you want a genuinely delicious place with a new kind of flavor, this is worth visiting.

Side dishes, myeoljeot dip and white kimchi at Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi
They also brought out plenty of side dishes — myeongyi namul (wild garlic leaves), jangajji (pickles), wasabi, saeujeot (salted shrimp) and more. Really solid.

But at Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi, nothing beats dipping the white kimchi they grill alongside the meat into the myeoljeot — that combo is heaven.

Are the 8,000-won kimchi golmok jjigae and mul-naengmyeon worth ordering?
We ordered mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) as a side dish and it was so good.
We also tried the golmok jjigae (kimchi), and at first I thought — isn't that a bit pricey for what's basically kimchi jjigae? But after tasting it, it made total sense.

It's packed with meat, and ordering a bowl of rice with it basically makes a full meal. The spicy broth is amazing for a hangover too... I've completely fallen for the delicious meat at this Danghadong BBQ spot, Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi.
A friendly owner with real meat-genius energy, a distinctive cut of meat, and the convenience of having everything grilled for you.
All reasons I'll definitely be back! Dwitgolmok Ddotgalbi Geomdan Main Branch.
