Today's story is about Italian Madam Main Branch, an Italian restaurant we visited with our kid in Geomdan, Incheon. It had been talked up as a local favorite for a while, and I'd been curious about it for ages — once I actually ate there, I got it immediately.
Pasta and risotto are best eaten fresh out of the kitchen, and going in person, this dinner ended up more satisfying than I expected.

The dining room was pretty full when we visited in the evening — couples on dates, and families with kids like us, all mixed together.

You could really feel that this is a neighborhood favorite Italian spot in Geomdan that locals keep coming back to. The baby chairs and kids' dishware were neatly kept too, so visiting with a toddler felt totally low-pressure.

Shrimp aglio olio, 13,900 won: plump whole shrimp
We started with Italian Madam Main Branch's shrimp aglio olio (₩13,900). The moment it arrived, the gentle scent of olive oil and roasted garlic was lovely.

Instead of small pre-cooked shrimp, there were big, hearty whole shrimp with a satisfying bouncy texture in every bite.

The noodles were cooked just right, and it was light without the greasiness oil pastas can sometimes have.

The seasoning wasn't too strong, so the garlic aroma and oil sauce came together cleanly. That meant our kid, who prefers milder flavors, happily ate some with a bit of the oil sauce on top.

It was the kind of dish you keep reaching for — we cleaned the plate.

Beef flap steak cream risotto, 15,900 won: rich cream and beef
The beef flap steak cream risotto (₩15,900) we ordered alongside the pasta ended up being even more impressive than expected.

The beef was cut in generous chunks, and the nuttiness paired well with a cream sauce that could easily have been too rich. It didn't taste like a store-bought sauce at all — more like something made carefully in-house, soaking moistly into every grain of rice. Every spoonful was genuinely impressive.

The risotto went down smooth rather than rough, so our kid ate it happily, spoonful after spoonful. It's rare to find a risotto in Geomdan with this kind of balance between aroma and flavor.
Complimentary garlic bread and the self-serve bar
Before the main dishes arrive, Italian Madam Main Branch brings out garlic bread as a complimentary starter.

Crispy outside and nutty inside, our kid held it like a cracker and munched happily. A nice touch that kept the little one entertained while waiting for the mains.

The interior was kept clean, and ordering via tablet was quick and convenient.

At the self-serve bar you can freely grab pickles and utensils, and cutting through the pasta with a pickle now and then kept the meal feeling light and enjoyable to the last bite.
