Jeonpo, Busan burger restaurant: Mexico Town vs Dufftown & Dancing

Dufftown Burger Jeonpo Main Branch is a handmade burger restaurant in an alley off Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station in Busanjin, Busan. A couple ordered the Dufftown & Dancing (10,100 won, plus 700 won for caramelized onion) and the Mexico Town burger (10,400 won) with whole mozzarella cheese sticks and a set, spending 32,100 won for two, and the spicy-food lover picked Mexico Town as the winner. Dufftown's patties were hefty rather than chewy or dry, and the portions were generous.

Seomyeon tonkatsu at the 5pm reopen, Busan: Hets Jeonpo Branch

Hets Jeonpo Branch is a tonkatsu restaurant on Jeonpo-daero in Busanjin, Busan, near Seomyeon, that splits its katsu menu by pork breed: Jeju black pork and YBD (Yorkshire-Berkshire-Duroc). Arriving right at the 5pm reopen after break time to avoid the wait, the writer ordered the Jeju black pork assorted katsu at 18,000 won and the YBD assorted katsu at 17,000 won side by side, and found the black pork smoky and rich while the YBD tasted leaner and cleaner. A loin loyalist going in, the writer was won over by the tenderloin at Hets Jeonpo Branch and plans to return.

Namhae road trip lunch at Song Giwon, a Jinju naengmyeon restaurant

Song Giwon Jinju Naengmyeon Main Branch is a Blue Ribbon–listed restaurant on Modeok-ro in Jinju, Gyeongnam, serving Jinju naengmyeon: buckwheat noodles in a seafood broth topped with yukjeon (pan-fried beef). Stopping in at noon on the way to a Namhae day trip, the writer ordered Sunjo 1800 (mul-naengmyeon, chilled broth) for 13,000 won, Song Giwon 1997 (seokkeum-naengmyeon, mixed style) for 14,000 won and yukjeon for 25,000 won, and the self-serve kimchi bar was the most memorable part. A clean, mild broth and deeply buckwheat-scented noodles make Song Giwon worth a special drive even from Busan.
