In short
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is a seafood restaurant in Gijang, Busan, offering snow crab takeaway. I reserved 2 kg of snow crab and crab-shell fried rice through Naver, then enjoyed the warm, meat-filled crab with my family at our accommodation. Verdict: a wonderful special-trip meal choice.

Last weekend, we took a 1-night, 2-day trip to Gijang for my father's 70th birthday celebration, with our 7-month-old baby in tow. While deciding what takeaway food to have at the accommodation, we thought, it’s a special occasion, so let’s eat something nice and pricey—and tried Gijang snow crab takeaway.

Parking and reservation takeaway at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae
This is an area where Gijang snow crab restaurants are clustered together. Gijang Myeongpum Daegae was right in the center, and they immediately directed us to its dedicated parking lot. It has a barrier gate and is spacious, so parking was easy. I thought it was interesting that you use a coin dispenser to exit.
When we paid, the owner asked whether we had parked there. I’d forgotten about it, but thanks to that, I was able to pick up the coin.

I made a reservation through Naver and then visited. The price for each menu item was clearly shown when reserving, and I paid straight away with Naver Pay. I ordered 2 kg of snow crab to take away. One kilogram counted as one serving, and the price included two servings of crab-shell fried rice. If you reserve before visiting for snow crab takeaway, it’s nice that you can pick it up right away.

Hours are 10:00–21:00 daily, with last orders at 20:00. As soon as we entered, the tanks were full of fresh snow crab. Seeing the tanks so packed made me trust the place even more. The king crabs were huge, too.

A place that explained dishonest weighing firsthand
Just looking at the number of steamers gave me the feeling that lots of people visit this popular restaurant. In particular, Gijang Myeongpum Daegae absolutely does not use dishonest weighing‼️ There have been many places caught up in controversy over it before. The owner explained it to me personally and even showed me how much of a difference it makes, so I really trusted them.

On the left is what happens with dishonest weighing: the weight of the scale is included, too. The scale alone weighs about 680 g. Since snow crab costs ₩70,000–₩80,000 per kilogram, the price difference is enormous if this happens.

For two snow crabs, something that should cost ₩120,000 came to ₩180,000 when weighed together with the scale 🫢 If you never want to fall for this kind of trick, visit Gijang Myeongpum Daegae.

A spacious restaurant for family gatherings, too
The interior was spacious and clean, too. I think it would be good for group gatherings. I especially recommend it as a place for a family gathering on a special day.

We waited for our takeaway order with our 7-month-old baby. She may not know what’s going on, but she’s always excited when she’s with Mom and Dad.

Snow crab takeaway that stayed warm to our accommodation
It was carefully packed in a cooler, so it stayed warm all the way to our accommodation. The item underneath is crab-shell fried rice, and because one serving comes free with every 1 kg of snow crab, there were two servings in total. So we didn’t add any side dishes. There was even mustard dipping sauce for the crab 😄

It had been a while since we’d eaten snow crab, so my parents were incredibly happy, too. At first, I debated getting sashimi to go, but I think choosing snow crab was absolutely the right decision.

Here’s the full spread we set out at the accommodation~ There was beef, but on this day the snow crab was definitely the main dish 👏

The taste of prepared snow crab and crab-shell fried rice
It was prepared so it was easy to eat: just snap it and the meat slips right out. Can you see how full the crab was?? It was so delicious.

The legs were packed with meat, too 🫶 I think it’s a menu that everyone, young and old, can enjoy.

There were two servings of crab-shell fried rice, and it was delicious even on its own! I mixed in the tomalley from the crab shells, and it was seriously heavenly 🥹 There was enough to fill two crab shells generously.

We were so full after finishing it all! So we saved a few crab legs and had snow crab ramen for breakfast the next day. It was a perfect meal to pack and eat at a pension, and I think it’s much more convenient and better to get snow crab takeaway instead of adding barbecue, especially when it’s hot or cold. I highly recommend it if you’re traveling in Gijang.
